But I think the media and parties probably WOULD sit up and pay attention if a large enough portion of the ballots are coming back with actual candidates written in. That gets RECORDED as (for instance) "the year that 23% of the ballots came back with a write-in, so people were CLEARLY upset..."

I get the frustration, but I'd like to encourage people, instead of not voting.. if you can't stomach a Democratic candidate, then write your own name in, or the name of someone else you know. But it has to be someone who'd be, legally, a potential candidate, so it's not just a trash ballot.
