The Mario Quiz Cards had a canceled second wave set to release in late 2001, but where shelved 'due to current events'. One of the cards in the set asked a question about the Twin Towers in New York City, depicted with Mario flying towards them. This is the only card we have any information on.

Before New Super Mario Bros. Mii transformed into NSMBU, it was meant to be the start of a new era of Mii Games. The Wii U's Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. entries were once also majorly focused on Miis, and remnants of this direction appear in the final version of both games.

In 1985, a man named Donkey Kong ran to become the mayor of NYC, hoping his new name would appeal to the youth. He only garnered 27 votes, but kept the moniker for 7 years, only changing it after a deadly incident. This man, Curtis Sliwa, likely inspired New Donk City.

During the Wii U era, in hopes of increasing Nintendo's market relevancy, Bill Trinen was set to appear on the Eric Andre show and talk about Mario Party Star Rush. The episode was recorded, but it was cancelled for unknown reasons. Only one screenshot of it exists.

It's known that Miyamoto claimed that Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie were like standard and deluxe makunouchi bento boxes. He also claimed that Banjo-Tooie was akin to a trip to buffet chain Golden Corral due to both of their overabundance and lack of quality.

In Itadaki Street DS, there is an exchange exclusive to Waluigi and Birdo where she asks if Waluigi is a communist. This only appears when Waluigi takes money from Birdo while she has a higher property value than Waluigi.

Around the release of Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo's website and twitter both discussed Toad's love for the cat suit. All related material was promptly deleted for unknown reasons. Fans speculate this means Toad is a furry. We are unsure if this applies to other colorations.

In the early 2000s, Nintendo and Dr. Pepper partnered on Donkey Pepper, an ad campaign combining DK with the popular soda. It would later spawn a Dr. Pepper X Nintendo site. The partnership came to a close in 2005 when the Donkey Facts section leaked a DKC game for Nokia phones.

The "Oops! All Shy Guys!" ActionReplay code for Mario Kart DS replaces every character with a different color of Shy Guy. Notably, this code accesses several unused palettes for the character found in the files, including colors never found in other games.

In 2010, a listing for Old Super Mario Bros appeared on the Nintendo website. It appears to be a physical re-release of Super Mario Bros. for the 25th anniversary, but nobody knows for sure. However, the release seems to have evolved into the Wii port of Super Mario All Stars.

In the Player's Choice release of Mario Party 5, the manual was changed to give names to the colored Koopa Kids introduced in the games. Red became Rowser, Blue became Broozer, and Green became Booger. These are not mentioned in-game and it is unknown what the original Koopa Kid's name is.

In Mario Superstar Baseball: Fantasy League, a browser-based flash game to promote the GCN game, the baseball in Mario's render has a strange-looking face added to it that is not present in the original render. This suggests baseballs may have once had faces in the GCN release.

The Super Beet was a cut power-up found in the files of Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3." When hacked into a level, it crashes the game. However, details in the code suggest it was a flying power-up similar to the Propeller Mushroom from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
