hi #portfolioday! i'm hypo, a freelance illustrator from california with a soft spot for silly portraits and bright colors. i'd love to do more private commissions and commercial work! portfolio/links: hypochroma.art inquiries: hypochroma.art@gmail.com art feed: bsky.app/profile/did:...

an illustration of several musicians from the bands ninja sex party and twrp wearing tuxedos against a backdrop of neon lights shaped like various emoji used as innuendos. from left to right in the midground, there is a lion in sunglasses playing the bass, a man wearing a cone crowned with a top hat, a robot with red eyes playing the drums with one drumstick and a martini glass, and another individual with a rocketman-esque helmet shredding on a guitar with a bowtie around the neck. in the foreground are a man with long, curly brown hair wearing a blue cape and white tux singing into a microphone, and another man next to him wearing a balaclava and black tuxedo playing a toy xylophone. art by hypochroma

cover for dave heatwave’s album star city; in the foreground is a man wearing a luchador mask and pink suit without a shirt, reaching up with a star shaped light in his hand. behind him is a 3/4 portrait of the man singing into a golden microphone with a backdrop of a horrifically enlarged moon and a city skyline. art by hypochroma

a crop of an illustration of the jazz musician trey magnifique (@bwecht.bsky.social) in three different poses in pinks, blues and purples, based on his music video for the song "satin velvet": the figure in the foreground regards the soprano saxophone in his hand as he sits on a furry bench next to an old crt with his own face on it, while two other figures hover in the background, one playing the sax. art by hypochroma

crop of a digital portrait styled to resemble a renaissance painting in oils; a woman with long hair wearing a burgundy dress cradles a shih-tzu wearing a ruffled collar with a halo crowning his head. the figures are set on a gold background resembling cracked paint. art by hypochroma

i love getting new artbooks (flesh_png and pix_bun on instagram!)

a photograph of two artbooks on a desk. the first is fourth grade by CHAN, the cover stylized to look like a composition book; the second is aeris by airi pan, with a blue partially transparent slipcover that fogs the artwork underneath. there's an iris split keyboard in the top right corner

more #nikaido! i had fun with the lighting, definitely want to do more like this 🍮🦜 #hypochroma #dorohedoro #fanart

the character nikaido from dorohedoro excitedly jumping in midair; she’s wearing a jumpsuit and mask and has devil horns and a tail, and is lit with bright spotlights against a dark background

the same image as previous but rendered with a different, more muted palette

two characters from the manga/anime dorohedoro are posed in front of a door shaped like a vhs tape on an orange background: nikaido, a blonde girl in an orange jumpsuit doing a kick in the air, and kaiman, a man with a lizard head wearing a leather jacket, running while holding two knives with a gyoza impaled on one of them
