Sanguine Foundations was created as a critique and response to Harry Potter and most importantly as a love letter to the trans community. We don't have to tolerate transphobia, we can make our own magic. Read it FREE here: www.hypercomicsuniverse.com/sanguine-fou...

Jes stands in the middle of the phases of the moon above her friends (left-to-right) Gabe, Tierra and Jacque. She holds her wand, fire filling the top of the cover. There is a gold border around the image with graffiti.

Harry Potter is what funds JK Rowling's transphobia. Stop supporting it, stop funding her. Read better books. Fuck JK Rowling. Fuck Harry Potter.

Jes Freeman, the trans protagonist of Sanguine Foundations gives the middle finger to a school that resembles Hogwarts.

In light of the news out of Chicago... Stay Woke #2 came out two years ago. It's not prescience, it's just knowing the reality of where we are and the times we've been in. #staywoke

There is no progress without trans people. Transness shows us what's possible, that we are not restricted to the boxes made for us, that we can be so much more than anyone could imagine. #sanguinefoundations #harrypotter

Jes sitting on a moon in front of a card with her friends Jacque, Gabe and Tierra depicted on it. Around her is rubble with fire in the background.

Text: Trans bodies have been in the crosshairs; sites of state and individual violence.

Panel one of the phases of the moon as Jes' body transforms in front of a space backdrop.

Text: A convenient boogeyman to pass restrictive and regressive policies violating everyone's autonomy.
There is no progress without trans people. Transness shows us what's possible, that we are not restricted to the boxes made for us, that we can be so much more than anyone could imagine.

Photo of JK Rowling's tweet reading "I love it ehen a plan comes together. #SupremeCourt #WomensRights" with a picture of her raising a glass with a cigar to her lips.

Text: Some very vocal, very rich and very influential people have been pushing the narrative of trans people being “dangerous” and inciting violence against them.
Not the least of these figures being JK Rowling.
For the past five years as one of the most vocal hate mongers against trans existence, Rowling’s bigotry has engulfed her twitter, her publications post-Harry Potter (under the pen name Robert Galbraith) and overshadowed her work or functioned as an extension of it.
On April 16, 2025 the UK Supreme Court ruled on the definition of “woman”, notably and purposefully excluding trans people from sex-based protections. For Women Scotland was the organization that filed the suit that was the basis for this ruling. It was reported that Rowling donated $70,000 to this organization and on the ruling, tweeted “I love it when a plan comes together. #supremecourt #womensrights”

Tierra, Jes, Jacque and Gabe stand triumphantly atop rubble as a phoenix soars behind them.

Text: This and her other investments are made possible due to the revenue she receives from Harry Potter properties (books, films, merch, games, etc.) Her influence is wide as she was one of the most celebrated and beloved children’s authors. Knowing that continued engagement and financial support funds her bigoted acts and investments, I think it's well past time to leave Hogwarts. Grieve it and find some new magic, it's out there for you. Or make your own magic. That's the goal of Sanguine Foundations, a response to and critique of JK Rowling and Harry Potter. We can do better. We can make something better.

We are one week away from the launch of the Sanguine Foundations Kickstarter so here's a preview 🌙 Welcome to Sanguine! #sanguinefoundations

Spread overlooking the Sanguine University quad as seniors cast the words "Welcome to the Sanguine University of Magic" into the sky. Jes Freeman is freaking out about being in this strange place surrounded by other panicked magical people. Jes is then calmed down in the last panel by Tierra Wright, who introduces herself.

As Tierra and Jes learn that they are both from Georgia, the dean of Sanguine University flies down, staff in hand and in the final panel teleports everyone off of the quad.

Everyone is teleported into an auditorium where Jes remarks that she is about to throw up, before Dean Rowe-Fare begins a speech about how magic works and the history of Sanguine as an institution.

Dean Rowe-Fare addresses the auditorium of students, sharing the history of Sanguine. Tierra asks Jes if she thinks the school provided reparations to which Jes responds "Girl, hell nah."
