It got too long, so I put it on Pastebin. I hope it’s still easy to read. pastebin.com/raw/wvamY7UH

I understand. After hearing what you’ve said, I think there are significant differences between our cultures in how boycotts, and encouraging others to join them, are perceived. I’m typing this on ...

precisely why people are more relaxed about fan works. Asian countries, especially Korea and China, are very sensitive to the harassment of people who don’t participate in these collective actions. Historically, way too many people have died because of that.

Yeah I'm glad too. Actually the ching chang "Cho Chang"(...) is way too infamous among Asian people so most of us already know JKR and the IP itself is originally toxic. We do not have disagree with that. There seems to be a difference of opinion on how to view fan works. Boycotts of particular IPs

You didn’t keep your replies in a single thread, so I wasn’t seeing what you were saying in the other threads in real time. That’s why I kept replying. There are still several replies of yours I haven’t responded to, but I’ll end this here. Goodbye.

Then why did you talk to me in the first place? Goodbye.

I do not create or enjoy HP fan arts. And actually you're the one who started talking to me, I was just replying. Have a nice day.

yesterday. What I do have a clear opinion on is that I oppose harassing people who disagree with that view and driving them off this website, and I consider the phrase “smol bean dumb woman artist” in the original post to be hate speech. TabbyCatz has also repeatedly made insulting remarks about

I respect your opinion. Personally, I don’t particularly enjoy either Harry Potter fan art or the original works. I’ve never even read the original novels. (I know the brief story of it tought) People seem to disagree on whether we should also refrain from enjoying fan works. Opinions seem divided

So I actually agree with this specific part: > Your money and support matter more than your words. We think that fanarts or piracy does not gave her money.

It feels somewhat different to us, since we distinguish between buying official products and creating fan works, but I respect your culture.

enjoying the Harry Potter IP, whether through other people’s fan art or piracy, sounds quite reasonable to me. Personally, knowing everything I know now, I wouldn’t want to spend money on expensive Harry Potter books series either.

If you believe I manipulated the LLM into giving me a favorable answer, you can ask it yourself. And should I take your reaction to mean that you don’t have much of a rebuttal to the LLM’s actual answer? The argument that we should distinguish between buying products and merchandise and simply

I don’t know why you’re being sarcastic, but you were the one who told me to put the entire conversation into an LLM. Both GPT and Claude acknowledge that there are trans users on Bluesky who are hostile to JKR, but they say it’s difficult to characterize simply enjoying Harry Potter content as

OK instead of Astra, I asked same to Fable. pic1: Are those false friends? → No pic2: Enjoying HP is offensive to trans people? → Actually purchasing HP books or goods, can be. Enjoying itself, no.

Are you asking me to ask it that? The LLM didn’t agree. I don’t think it would make much difference whether you ask in English or Korean, so go ahead and ask an LLM yourself.

it would be viewed differently in the English-speaking world.)

Yes piracy and fan art are different. But you need to understand that the TS Malfoy trend is based on monetized, sexually explicit fan fiction created without the original author’s permission. Here, that is considered illegal revenue generated at the expense of the original work. (and I don’t think

I'm not a big fan of putting someone else's long writings into LLM but since you have asked, I did it. It says 트랜스젠더/트랜스젠더리즘 are hard to be considered as false friend of transgender/transgenderism. And it said being a Harry Potter fan does not make you a transphobe automatically.
100
Jihyeon Kim (김지현) @hyeon.me · 8h
I said since "transgenderism" is now hate speech in America yes they should be considered as false friends, but I don't see how "transgender" and "트랜스젠더" are false friends. You mean even a word "transgender", not "transgenderism" is politically charged term since 70s? It's hard to believe.

1. No I did not argued that its appropriate to use now. 2. No I didn't use slurs against transgender people for funsies. 3. Yes It's Americans right wing circle who transformed word which coined to serve inclusive purpose into hate speech, not us. These are all facts. There's no contradiction

@cohbeans.bsky.social Let me correct my wording. I meant within this site, not English-speaking society on Earth in general. bsky.app/profile/hyeo...

Jihyeon Kim (김지현) @hyeon.me · 8h
Have I ever argued that its appropriate to use now?
100
Jihyeon Kim (김지현) @hyeon.me · 8h
Since "transgenderism" is now hate speech in America yes they should be considered as false friends. But if the term is used as hate speech where it originated, it'll soon fall out of use in Korea too. Is it still false friends then? And I don't see how "transgender" and "트랜스젠더" are false friends.
100
Jihyeon Kim (김지현) @hyeon.me · 8h
I didn't argued that it's an acceptable term. You said "Transgenderism has never fucking been used in a positive light in English you dumb fuck." and that's not true.
100
Jihyeon Kim (김지현) @hyeon.me · 8h
False friends is not 가짜 대응어 in Korean. There is no standardized Korean translation for that term. And word "트랜스젠더", "트랜스젠더리즘" are not false friends of "transgender", "transgenderism". It's transliteration.

It was once considered acceptable term. It’s written on Wikipedia, just as you said earlier. It was coined to replace the term “transsexualism.” which considered misleading.

No, I’ve seen several trans people on this platform say, “Obviously being a Harry Potter fan does not make you a transphobe automatically.”
200
Jihyeon Kim (김지현) @hyeon.me · 8h
If, as you say, nobody thinks that way, why is this controversial even among people with pride flags on this platform? Now I do not think it's appropriate to use the word Transgenderism, thanks to you.
100
Jihyeon Kim (김지현) @hyeon.me · 8h
Are you claiming that the English-speaking trans people on this platform are transphobic? Get a grip. What are you even talking about?

overwhelmingly outnumber the latter, nor does their position seem to represent a cultural norm in the English-speaking world or Bluesky.

Many trans people on this site have shared their own reactions to this controversy. Some, like you, see even mentioning Harry Potter as transphobic, while others say that being a Harry Potter fan doesn’t automatically make someone transphobic. From what I’ve seen, the former don’t seem to
