+ e.g. epic the musical (which is based off the odyssey), hadestown (musical), hades (the game), and ofc song of achilles/circe from a few years back. It's fun to see how similar story beats gets re-interpreted afresh

not yet!! I'm hesitant about the film bc I've been burnt by recent remakes (Frankenstein), but there will be an animated film called Penelope that I am looking forward to!! have you read odyssey recently? Which translation? ALSO since 2025 I've been playing in all the homer-derived media +

recently watched and read the iliad... what if I think achilles x hector is infinitely more tender than achilles x patroclus.... to face a man wearing your own armour is to face yourself.... best fighter of their respective sides, both loved by the gods, both fated to die at troy

14 day ateez report card: unfortunately none of the ships have hooked me for fic-writing potential, primarily bc the boys are thriving and seem very well adjusted and comfortable w/ each other ... nothing for the claws of imagination to dig into u___u

I haven't read night circus but I think the camps are polarised on it anyway (steeple fingers), like susanna clarke's work as well. what are those mixed feeling if I may inquire

I get it!! sometimes I hate a book for incredibly personal/petty/specific reasons and that's no one's business except for bsky/dreamwidth OF COURSE <3 I'm about to start on his essays (daemon voices)

In a fic there inevitably comes the part where you have to describe what the sky is doing and it’s very important you get the exact right one or two words in there and that you don’t do it a single sentence too soon

Finished reading The Left Hand of Darkness a couple weeks ago and still thinking about it, and wanted to draw one of my favourite quotes. #art

Fanart for The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin. A scribbly drawing of mountains and glacier with two very small figures dragging a sledge across the landscape, sun just warming the tips of the mountains. Handwritten scribbly text reads "I think we might make it, he said," then over a drawing of a figure almost silhouetted in the foreground (Genly Ai) looking towards a figure whose fur-lined coat is illuminated round the edge with light as they look out at the landscape, "with that complete simplicity / I had so long taken / for irony"
