Good lord that final act in Bugonia went places. It's very much a two hander between Emma Stone in full soulless corporate speak and Jesse Plemons being incredibly sweaty and broken. Those costumes at the end were...a choice though.

Sisu 2 is just an absolute romp that verges on going full cartoon. Yet it's so over the top, somehow nothing is as memorable as the landmine death in the first one. He rocket-jumps a Sherman tank, ffs.

The Day The Earth Blew Up...yeah I'm not surprised they expected Coyote Vs Acme to flop after this one. Animation is good but setting everything in a retro-50s setting made it look out of date before you even finish the prologue. Also weird to see twerking and getting cancelled in Looney Tunes

The Penguin TV show will probably stand as the best thing DC have done in their current attempt to reboot their universe. Everyone is on their A-game and Colin Farrell's Penguin is such an absolute monster by the end, but it balances it so well that you don't realise it until it's far too late

Zootopia 2 was great. I'm glad the majority of the side characters from 1 were just present but not big presences, really felt like a proper expansion of the story. Though at this point the real twist of Zootopia 3 will be the villain not being a twist and just straight up bad beginning to end.

Superman 2025 was a fun time but too many heroes stuffed in what should've been a solo Superman film. Hoult and Gathegi are my personal highlights in the cast. But god help me, I did not care at all for Krypto being an entirely CG creation. At least the sequel is finally giving us Brainiac.

Send Help is a slightly more subdued Sam Raimi film until the last 20 minutes. But the entire thing is held together by McAdams giving great "is she kooky or batshit insane" with O'Brien being a great snivelling dipshit. Best to view it as a monster movie where they keep switching the monster role.

Gore Verbinski, your career never recovered from The Lone Ranger. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die plays out very much like something that would have been made by Terry Gilliam starring Robin Williams in the 80s/90s. But it's very confusing in the final few minutes with regards what their reality is.

They Will Kill You is a fun time. Went in blind so the entire premise twist took me by surprise. It's a little sub-Tarantino in style with title cards, flashbacks, etc. Think a schlockier Kill Bill. Surprising we don't see Zazie Beetz in more stuff, she's great.

I'm so conflicted. Resident Evil 2026 is objectively a good, enjoyable movie...but it's clearly a pre-existing script that got references and game logic bolted on to get made. There are no cameos, no classic monsters and the most abrupt non-ending ever. Humour overpowers the film at times.

One Battle After Another is handsomely made, well acted but it did not need to be nearly 3 hours long. And tbh DiCaprio just wasn't...well, good in this. I'd have much rather have seen del Toro's guy be the one taking the fight to Sean Penn, whose walk is the funniest thing in this film.

Ford v Ferrari, or Le Mans 66 here, is a very handsome period film but I seem to have a problem connecting with racing movie characters. Rush was better for me overall, even if the best performance in either is Christian Bates here. The thinner he looks in a movie, the more intense the performance

Roofman relies on Channing Taum's charms to make you forget this guy is traumatising people in robberies and it's mostly successful but by it's nature, it doesn't deal much with the fallout of his fake life with Kirsten Dunst's character. Dunst is great, too, you're rooting for her.

Marty Supreme is a gorgeously filmed movie, great performances, GREAT soundtrack but my god is Marty himself such a punchable asshole for the duration, it's impossible to be emotionally invested in him or his goals. And on that score, Chalamet was superbly cast and deserved the Oscar for it

Having never seen The Hitcher since muddy DVD quality, god it's pretty in 4K. The wide scenery shots are gorgeous. And the film remains as nightmarishly dream-like as before. Still one of my favourites but the slow pacing may put some off.

Somehow never saw Death Proof. Wish I hadn't. Definitely the worst Tarantino film. Apart from a truly horrific car crash at the midpoint, it's very unmemorable apart from Kurt Russel being a sleazy, but cowardly as fuck, psycho.

Good Boy is more of a technical exercise than an actual film, in a "how much can we get the audience to project their emotions on to a dog lead" way but that is a very emotive dog. Sadly the plot goes all in on the modern "metaphor as monster" plot you'll call seconds in from clumsy dialogue.

Is it bad I called a plot twist the second I got a view of the trophy beast's face in Predator Badlands? Also yes, many men would follow Elle Fanning's arse in lycra across an inhospitable planet. Fun movie but nothing notable. Same issue as Alien, the more we learn the less interesting they are

Coyote Vs Acme is a fine family film, bonus points if you grew up on the Looney Tunes. The 3D takes a moment to get used to. Lots of sight gags more for the grown ups. I'm sure the kids had no idea why people my age were laughing at the anti-predator spray bit. Good film, worth a watch

The Long Walk is a great film I recommend everyone watch. It's talky but my god it's probably the highest quality cast of mostly unknowns I've seen in a long time. Everyone nails a great performance, and there's a nice turn with the asshole character in the final stretch revealing his humanity.

It's not often you can say a game is timeless but Doom 2016 is. That gameplay loop is superb, with quite a bit of hidden exploring, but never enough to take you way off the beaten path, and battles where even if you die, are never unfair. Super Shotgun was my weapon of choice, of course. Play it.
