I live in the uk, but is this basically the first World Cup since 2002 that’s a good time zone for Americans? 2006 - European time zone 2010 - pretty much European time 2018 and 2022, both European 2014 was in Brazil but all the games started earlier than US prime time is my recollection.

The “Twitter got musked so no journalists are there” line is just factually untrue. Most journalists still use Twitter and do fine! The hurting links policy also got reversed last year, since then tweets with article links are given same visibility as before and routinely go viral.

Loved this piece at the time. And think you’re getting back into baseball at the right time, it’s probably the 2nd most popular pro league in America again. The last World Series between the Dodgers and BlueJays was so awesome too, I mainly follow the playoffs and 2025’s was awesome.

Thank you for doing a deep dive on this. I think a lot about how measles was cured in the year 2000, a vaccine exists for it. And now we see measles outbreaks in multiple states. The Trump-RFK Jr legacy on this is such a disgrace.

I remember you tweeting this before, someone older than me explained how it worked in the early 2000s when they were bored in the office. They said their only choices were Bill Simmons on ESPN page 2 to read instead during quiet hours. Now there’s so much more choice for reading in those situations
