Myth: Email authentication needs the body and attachments. Reality: Hush Line Email Validation works with Raw Email Headers to inspect DKIM, SPF, and DMARC. Recipient teams can leave the contents in place. Headers may expose addresses and delivery paths, so protect them too.
Light-mode Hush Line social graphic titled “Validate headers without copying the email body.” A desktop Tools screenshot shows Email Validation with a Raw Email Headers field, Validate Headers, Download Report, and a Validation Summary saying the email appears to originate from the stated sender. The graphic contrasts the myth that the whole email is required with the reality that the tool uses its headers.

Staff turnover changes who should receive tip email. Revisit Notifications: confirm the current delivery role, use the Hush Line inbox when it covers the workflow, and send encrypted tip contents by email only when required. Make this an offboarding task.
Light-mode Hush Line social graphic with the headline "Check who gets tip email after a role change." It shows Settings > Notifications with Tip Notifications turned on and three private recipient email addresses—editor, standards, and board—each labeled Enabled and PGP key configured. The image supports the principle that a whistleblowing process should be reviewed when staff responsibilities change.

Do not type tip details into Directory search. Choose a category or use Search verified users to find a recipient, then open View Profile. Once you decide who fits, put sensitive information in that recipient’s Hush Line message form. No account is required.

Serious choices need specific labels. Hush Line’s Settings page says “Download My Data” and “Delete Account,” with a clear warning that deletion cannot be undone. That helps journalists and lawyers sharing sensitive intake confirm the intended action during a handoff.
A Hush Line social graphic titled “Name each action before it happens.” It shows the light-mode Advanced settings page, where separate buttons read “Download My Data” and “Delete Account.” A warning says that deleting the account is permanent and cannot be undone.

Someone changes the address mid-conversation. Recipient teams can verify the request before following it: open Hush Line’s Email Validation, add the routing details, and run the test. A mismatch is a reason to confirm through a contact method the team already knows.
A light-mode social graphic titled “Verify a request to use a new address.” The supporting Hush Line desktop screenshot shows the Tools page, the Email Validation tab, a Raw Email Headers field, the Validate Headers and Download Report buttons, and a Validation Summary that says the email appears to originate from the stated sender.

Copied details do not belong in a reusable notice. Edit Status Text with four checks: remove names, organizations, dates, and wording taken from a real disclosure. Send a sample message through your public page, inspect the follow-up page, and ask a colleague to check it too.
Light-mode Hush Line social graphic titled “Strip identifying details from Status Text” beside the desktop Message Statuses settings. The screen shows the Status Text field under Waiting and the Update Reply Text button, illustrating a checklist for keeping the reusable notice free of names and details copied from a disclosure.

More than one address can receive notices. For shared intake, name the person checking the Hush Line inbox and an absence backup. Choose email notifications and whether email includes encrypted tip contents. Confirm “PGP key configured,” then record the assignment.
Social graphic titled “Assign responsibility by notification address.” A light-mode desktop Hush Line Notifications screen shows Tip Notifications turned on, three recipient address cards for editor, standards, and board, “Enabled · PGP key configured” under every address, and an Add Recipient button. Myth: Sources must be verified to contact a Verified recipient. Reality: Verified applies to the account owner, whose identity Hush Line staff have checked. Sources can send a message without an account. Start with Verified recipients: tips.hushline.app/directory

Myth: a green result proves an email’s claims. Reality: Email Validation only addresses where the email likely came from. Recipients should assess what it says separately. Use the source finding for context and continue your usual tip assessment.
A light-mode Hush Line social graphic headed “A green result does not prove every claim.” It shows the desktop Tools page with Email Validation selected, Raw Email Headers in a text box, buttons labeled Validate Headers and Download Report, and a green Validation Summary. The graphic supports the distinction between learning where an email likely came from and deciding whether its claims are accurate.
