The incredible Mary understudy had Signature's THE SECRET GARDEN upcoming in her bio. But according to her resume, we're not just being denied hearing her sing "Hold On" but also suffering the indignity of a woman in her 30s understudying the old housekeeper.

"shifting" "hope" "additional...projects" Real confidence-building
With our 2026/27 Season schedule shifting, the world premiere of NIKOLA – A New Musical will no longer begin performances in Fall 2026 at Arena Stage. We hope to have further information to share shortly, as well as details on additional yet to be announced projects for 2027.

Will NIKOLA take the mysterious one remaining "To Be Announced" for the season? Are we just pretending it doesn't exist? 🤷‍♂️

Candidates seeking an appointment without tenure should also arrange to have the names and contact information of three (3) contact references submitted via Interfolio from whom the committee will collect reference letters at a later stage. Candidates seeking a tenured appointment may opt to provide names of references on their curriculum vitae.

Was anyone else ignorant to the fact Joseph McCarthy died at *48 years old*? You're telling me this 65-year-old man didn't live to see 50? This man who was clearly a grandfather of seven grown adults was barely in his late-40s when he died?

An example of how bad CHEZ JOEY is: Joey tells his love interest, "When I was 13, my mom died after singing Rodgers and Hart's 'My Funny Valentine'." The song premiered in 1937, and the CHEZ JOEY is set in 1940. So Joey should be a 16-year-old nightclub singer sleeping with every woman he sees.

It's great when someone in admin completely disregards the "AI innovation" concerns of an entire section of the faculty!
Here's what I'm learning as higher education continues to strangle innovation with "that's not how we do things here" in the face of existential irrelevance:
"That's not who we are"
Translation: We'd rather die than change our identity
"We tried that in 2003"
And we'll never try anything similar again
"The faculty won't support it"
Because the tenured faculty in humanities doesn’t like it
"What will peer institutions think?"
Let's wait to see what Harvard does first

And let's be crystal clear: the issue, they insist, is that the course content was not in line with the catalog description. The catalog descriptions offer an incredible amount of academic freedom in what content is taught. But that clearly doesn't extend to anything conservatives think is bad.

"It's a tough moral question, for sure" is probably something a lot of people in the Gestapo said too
Some candidates said they do have reservations about what the job might entail. Osborne, the former Marine, said there might be orders he doesn’t feel entirely comfortable with, like being told to arrest the parent of a young child whose only crime was crossing the border illegally.

“That would weigh on my heart,” Osborne said. “It’s a tough moral question, for sure.”

Still, he said, “To call ICE the Gestapo — that’s ridiculous.”

Just once I'd like people to understand that a news outlet not putting the name of someone who is not a well-known figure in a headline or post is not a value judgement or part of some grand conspiracy.

"The Texas gerrymander freakout"
"What's happening in the Lone Star State is not a threat to democracy.""Redistricting is an inherently political issue. Even if Texas’s move triggers an arms race, the trend will not put American democracy on life support. One silver lining of the gerrymander wars is that they might remind Americans how much Congress should matter."

The only time in a 9-page "On-Ramp to AI" that these professors even mentioned the possibility that generative AI makes shit up is one sentence suggesting an assignment where students are "tasked with verifying AI-generated content using credible sources."
On the other hand, AI-enhanced assignments leverage AI as a learning tool. For example, to build critical fact-checking skills, students can be tasked with verifying AI-generated content using credible sources. Additionally, to encourage metacognitive reflection, students might be asked to document and reflect on their use of AI throughout an assignment, including the prompts they used and the lessons they learned from the process.

Are you not embarrassed to admit that you're okay having ChatGPT do all your work for you? And are seemingly okay with students doing it too?
SAMPLE STUDENT PROMPT “I am a graduate student in a program about Emerging Media. I have been asked to write a 750 word essay that argues that on balance, social media has harmed people's self esteem. To help me sharpen my argument, I want you to write a 500 word essay that argues that, on balance, social media has enhanced people's self esteem. I would also like you to suggest four follow up questions about the idea that social media enhances self esteem, so I can develop a more nuanced argument.”In one or two paragraphs, summarize the article. If you choose, you can use an AI program (e.g., ChatGPT) to help with the summary – AI could do an excellent job for a first draft.MULTIPLE CHOICE QUIZ ChatGPT makes it very easy to customize common and routine assignments. For example, if you have digital access to a textbook, it is very easy to load individual chapters into ChatGPT to create multiple choice quizzes. You can repeat the query repeatedly until you come up with the requisite number of questions that you feel are appropriate and useful.
REFLECTION Using ChatGPT, it is easy to develop more specific instructions for journaling and then modify them according to your learning aims.

Not sure I want to hear about using AI in the classroom from a group of colleagues who say "AI chatbots are more than just advanced search engines."
Digital Teaching Fellows present on Ramp to AI: Using AI in the Classroom

Join us for an exploration of artificial intelligence at Loyola University, featuring work from our AI Digital Fellows and real examples of how faculty across disciplines are integrating AI into their teaching to support learning goals. We invite you to approach this session with curiosity and an open mind. We will showcase practical AI applications, examine how these tools align with Jesuit principles of education and social justice, and address both opportunities and challenges faculty are encountering.AI chatbots are more than just advanced search engines. They can help you gather deeper, more focused information by engaging in a series of questions rather than a single query. They remember earlier queries and can simulate conversations. Faculty can use AI as a tool to create course material or to assist their work in other ways, and they should help guide students in creating effective prompts

Someone at the queer theater in town 100% wanted to direct NEXT TO NORMAL but then had to make up why it counts as queer.
For Iron Crow, this production represents a powerful expansion of what queer theatre can be. While queerness isn’t explicitly written into the text, Next to Normal is queer in its construction: it resists resolution, breaks traditional form, and places emotional truth above convention while simultaneously allowing us to amplify the voices of other marginalized communities.
