A small number of 'pioneering' Osprey pairs that establish territories away from existing breeding populations could hold the key to accelerating the species' recovery across Britain and Europe, new research suggests:

'Pioneering' Ospreys could accelerate recovery of UK populations
A long-term study has revealed that a small number of Osprey pairs play a disproportionately important role in recolonising areas beyond established breeding populations.
