Large language models are not the sorts of entities that can be held responsible. This lede should read "Using AI agents, Anthropic tried to gain access to a range of government websites...."

I’m sorry for your loss, and I’m willing to bet that my mom’s hospice Amazon purchases in 2025 reallllly broke that algorithm.

A lot of what’s happening doesn’t seem to be spreading anymore by mainstream media. A tree that stood for an estimated 150–250 years was destroyed today to make way for Trump’s border wall.

one thing you learn from making a lot of things is that the nitty gritty details, the millions of tiny invisible decisions, ARE the art. The "higher level ideas" are not nearly as important or interesting

It’s the art classic where you take your precious piece and delete half of it because it was too complicated to be a pin and you knew that from pretty early on and still spent days on it.

What’s probably largely happening with them is that they’re going to be cloud computing so we can never own our own hardware again. Subscriptions to use a powerful processor is the future, especially considering how you can’t build a good computer cheap anymore thanks to them.

Water strider pin progress. Orange is the initial sketch in illustrator, and then the black and white is the final design until the metal cutter tells me that the lines are too fine and I have to simplify it. Inspired by Charley Harper’s water strider with a minute homage to it on the pronotum.
A photo of a computer screen showing a vector of a water strider broken into geometric sections so it can be cut from a single piece of steel and hold together. Theres way too many layers on the right represented. Beside it is a line drawing of a water strider nymph in orange made out of constant width individual lines.
A blurry photo of a dirty computer screen with a water strider made up of continuous lines. Another computer screenshot of the water strider including legs and water reflections.

It was also quite exaggerated. Kiddo distress was said very jokingly. Kid had food and snacks the whole time. They just made figuring out the can opener a project. And then Twitter did its thing.

I hope that giving a professional face to something I’m doing anyways (contacting businesses telling them how bummer their slop products/ads are) can also help me pivot them to working with actual independent artists. Artists aren’t that expensive compared to monthly tokens to look ugly generic.

Bugs! @hugsforbugs.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
It turns out that very few people know how to spot it reliably apart from the uncanny feeling they get from all the generic graphic sludge. But ignorance has the possibility of being extremely embarrassing for a larger business as it devalues their credibility if they are wrong and double down.

I recently observed someone with the audacity to be offering ‘design services’ and not only were all the art and ideas soulless slop, but the entire proposal was too. 🤢 They were sending proposals to universities, getting accepted, and being paid like they were a real artist!

I’ve now done so much genAI slopspotting that my husband convinced me to start offering it as a service from my studio. Businesses and even massive institutions frequently don’t even seem to know they’re using it. They think they’re buying real art with contracts and reproduction rights!

Help me, bsky! You know how there are resin dice with little figures in them? I have some with bees, and I've seen lots of others. I'm looking for some with beetles. Ladybugs are fine, but all I need is a couple D6's, and I can only find big full sets of them.

There’s a lot of value in it, too. Being able to search through my 11k photos by subject or color has been immeasurably helpful. Managing massive databases isn’t something that humans can do without computer programs to help. But there’s lots of things it’s not for, too.

This purple and blue isn’t a trick of the light or a reflection. It’s an oxide that forms when heating steel red hot for a quarter second and then cooling it on a rock. The components come flat, but I spend an inordinate amount of time smoothly bending them into curved so they’re flashier.

I did a small neighborhood event with some of my steel pins I’ve been working on. The first pic is them right after welding on the backs. The second pic is a display I made.
A handful of steel components in the shapes of moths and mushrooms with welded pin backs. Steel pins now pressed into corks on a wood panel display with a handwritten note and a price that says “ flame painted one of a kind, stainless steel pins”

Thank you! The steel flat base components aren’t my designs, yet, because expensive. But they take substantial welding, hammering/shaping around forms, and flame painting that’s all my labor. In Nov I’m doing an entomology show so I’m finally gonna order my own design components! (Pic = WIP)

So I’ve been working on some pins for a while. Here’s a couple examples of the most recent three. Theyre solid stainless steel, each unique. The rainbow patina is called flame painting and it’s one of my favorite things about stainless steel. Downside: photographs badly. Upside: durable and nontoxic
