Duh. Rather late to make this point.

The three should be impeached. This is stark proof of corruption. And one of the six ignored the 14th and only concurred due to legislation.

That's US law. How does that work in other jurisdictions?

Data centres are horrible placed for training. They are mostly "lights out" -- no people, only noisy hot machines.

What's an Algorithmic Immigrant? I cannot tell from the article. Instead I propose "Artificial Immigrant" for symmetry but don't know what it would mean either.

Invitation for an invasion. People forget that Pearl Harbor was a response to a US/UK/Dutch oil embargo.

Maybe. One has to look at each job. I would guess that most unskilled jobs are automated to keep the precision high and contamination low.

Nice that you remember Canada, but Australia and some other non-European countries also contribute. Trump is shameless, terminating most support yet claiming credit.

What parts? On the surface, Windows, MacOS, and many Linux desktops are kind of similar. At a different level, you can use a POSIX CLI on each.

I find it hard to argue with the term "traitor". Fairly consistent with many of her other positions.

Yes, the diploma mills should be turned off. And those include public institutions that have overdone it. Two examples that come to mind: Memorial University and Conestoga College, but there are many others. Provincial funding shortfalls must be fixed.

One incentive for foreign students was an enhanced path to Permanent Residency. The Federal Government grasped at straws and abruptly cut this way back. Very unfair to the institutions and to the international students in the pipeline. Apparently very popular with the public.

My perception is a little different. Not that the article is wrong, just incomplete. Provincial governments don't fund tertiary education sufficiently. They encouraged the institutions to farm foreign students to make up the shortfall.

This is an IBM 2250. Vector graphics. Light pen. From mid-1960s. Cost like a house. The two I knew were directly connected to IBM System/360 mainframes. So even the computer time to run them was expensive. NASA used them.

Nit pick: In the free part: "Alex Jones, who once frequently hosted Loomer on InfoWars,". You cannot do something once frequently: they are kind of opposites. Perhaps "used to frequently".

"(In Canada, complaints about federal land are still addressed to the British sovereign.) " The Canadian sovereign! Same person, different office. First nations treaties were made with the Crown and some nations appeal to the "honour of the Crown", a constitutional principle supporting fairness.

On the other hand, Germans were not interned en masse, so the internment policy must not have been purely geographic.

As I understand it, the males who came from Austrian Galicia, part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, were interned. They were often Ruthenians. Ruthenians from areas not part of the Central Powers were not subject to internment.

That sounds like a "blame the Jews" thing. As I understand it, most Jews were poor farmers, living in small villages. But that too might be a stereotype. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodka#R... seems to suggest that alcohol production in the Russian Empire was a state monopoly.

Other imperial powers lost their empires as a result of WWII: France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Japan. USA's and USSR's empires grew.

The British Empire and USA were not completely aligned. One war aim of the US was to break up the Empire and supplant it. The US bled the Empire dry before joining the war. The US was a late joiner to WWI and WWII, shifting more of the costs to the other alies.

I think that there were several wrong sides to the war. The Axis (which wasn't exactly unified) was one or perhaps two if you include Japan. The USSR was also a wrong side.

Many Many Jews were in Ukraine because the Russian empire required Jews to live in the Pale of Settlement, which was mostly in Ukraine. During WWII, the Germans (with help from Ukrainians etc.) wiped out most of them so they are a much smaller minority now.

In Canada, many Galician men were interned during WWI as enemy aliens. In discussions of that, they are now called Ukrainians. This kind of muddies the waters since what was then Ukraine was not at war with us.

Wikipedia says 16 days en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_... Ukraine's history as a country is pretty complicated. Before WWII, the western part was "Galicia", part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Eastern part was part of the Russian Empire, called Ukraine. The borders were more complicated.

Englebart's group at SRI is considered the fountainhead. Some of those people went on to Xerox PARC. PARC, in CA, had nothing to do with Xerography, in Rochester NY. So: lots of misinformation in this message.

MS Edge uses Google Chrome's Blink. So the two browsers share a lot of code. Firefox is different, and open source. It is good to support actually diverse browsers. It prevents browser makers imposing de facto standards. MS Explorer was dominant and terrible and non-compliant.

I'd love an explanation of how RCV threatens democracy. Here in Canada, we have three national parties, each in favour of a different system for electing MPs: First-Past-the-Post (existing system), Ranked Ballot, and Proportional Representation (vote for a party, not a representative).

FDR did engineer the technical bankruptcy of Britain before helping pay for the war with lend-lease. Arms were sold for cash-only, no credit. And lend-lease did involve giving the US bases.
