I opened Haskell for Mac haskellformac.com after a long time today. It hasn't been updated in 5 yrs, Intel/Rosetta only. The website has no SSL, the support website support.hfm.io doesn't exist. So it's probably abandoned. It's still in the App Store, though.

Feedback is hard. Especially giving it (receiving it can be, too). There's no lack of articles and guides on this, so your feedback fatigue might expand to even reading about it. But I find this a good, comprehensive overview. martinfowler.com/articles/hea... #Feedback #EngineeringManagement

So is orchestration a requirement for cross-domain workflows, or a habit carried over from monoliths? My code.talks talk makes the case for choreography, and for breaking big workflows into micro-workflows, not distributing them. Hamburg, 5 Nov. #EventDrivenArchitecture

Which is reasonable, until you look at what it is. A coordinator that sends a request and waits for a reply is doing request-response. Maybe over Kafka, maybe named like events, but still command-driven. You set out for decoupling and brought runtime coupling back.

EDA gets recommended for microservices. Then a real business process turns up, and inventory, payment and shipping all have to move together. The usual reach is a workflow engine or the Saga pattern: one coordinator sends commands and waits for replies.

I gave a one-day workshop on event-driven architecture (of course). It's an unusual format (1 full day) and group size (some 30 people) for me and I had to improvise a lot, the conversations I like to do in smaller groups didn't work in that context.

The talks are short and in that environment it's a bit hard to get immersed in them. But they are very varied and sometimes there are pearls to be discovered - for example this year I learned about FreeST, a "language for safe concurrency powered by context-free session types". Thanks Veit Heller!

It's wrap (for me, anyway) for the @wearedevelopers.bsky.social European Congress this year. The congress is not like other conferences I go to. It's bigger, noisier. Great crowd (massive amount of people, > 10000 or so), young, international, energetic.
