Are they reverse engineered? I heard some speculation but not sure it's true.

I would bet good money it won't cost £13k!

I'm being a realist. You haven't given a reason why this isn't possible.

They have never previously had to deal with what's possible now. But yes ultimately that's the solution, in the same way we dealt with spam. And in the same way it'll make it harder to communicate legitimately.

And your suggestion is...

This isn't about hacking, it's about making someone's life hell. So, fake reviews, misinformation on social media, fake complaint emails to the council/police/whatever. People can do that already, anonymously, but not at scale and they'd tend to get bored after a while and move on.

Sorry, but I think you're a little out of touch here. For the first time we have a very cheap automated system that is capable of thinking and autonomously carrying actions to achieve a goal, indefinitely. There are no measures that can stop this.

It's not that simple. You can already download a model capable of this, with no safeguards, and run it on your own system. Then use Tor or similar so it's anonymous. The cat's already out of the bag unfortunately.

There are many terrible things that are now possible. For instance someone that doesn't like you can set up an agent to make your life hell and leave that running indefinitely.

I completely agree. If we don't support the war, why do we allow the base to be used for that war.

Can only speak from my own experience. I've no issue at all buying the latest films on Blu Ray in the UK from online stores. I just bought Hail Mary. They have almost completely disappeared from the high street though.

Huh? Nobody "took" any of that stuff. You can still store things where you like. You can still buy CDs, DVDs and Blu Rays. People choose what suits them.

"rose 54.2% in August" - anyone else find this unclear? Is that vs. July? Or the same period last year?

I'm not sure that software offering only a reduced functionality version for free is really "open". Really more "open core" than true "open source".

I disagree with her. But is it OK to feel uncomfortable with the idea of boycotting an artist's entire works because they have a different opinion?

Two people with £36m to throw around but instead of all the worthy charitable causes they could help out, they instead contribute to this country's descent into fascism. What a pair of absolute tossers.

That's quite normal. The data centres we use cannot possibly even know we are using the servers (there is a middle man) never mind what we do with them.

I don't know why this would be a surprise at all. Using AI to cut corners = didn't actually learn anything.

Without access to packages it's severely limited vs. the real world scenario they were trying to simulate. It'd have to build every tool itself.

It was almost an air gap. There was access to a proxy that only enabled package download, but it found an undiscovered vulnerability in that one thing. Pretty incredible.

The Trump Administration should not be using the tragic murder of Henry Nowak as a political football. This is blatant foreign interference designed to fuel division. The Prime Minister must summon the US Ambassador immediately.
