Harm reduction is part of our name because we don’t see ourselves as just a naloxone manufacturer; we see ourselves as harm reductionists & a non-profit pharma company that puts people over profit. That’s why we embrace having people like Michael Lasday of South Philly Punks with Lunch on staff.

We believe one of the best ways to raise awareness is to center voices with real experience. We sat down with our own Van Asher, a harm reductionist, EMS worker & friend to people who use drugs for 25 years. He talks about how PWUD have always been on the frontlines of overdose intervention. 🎙️

Harm reduction can take many forms, and finding places where they intersect is always a special and meaningful opportunity for us. We love the work that Services for the UnderServed (S:US) is doing in NYC with community fridges like this one in Brooklyn. (cont. in comments)

From your child, your partner, your close friend, to the neighbor you wave to every day, to your roommate, overdose never discriminates and can touch all of our lives. We can all do our part by having compassion, raising awareness, and doing our part to help prevent overdose.

The 2026 theme for International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is “25 Years On. Still Needed.” We're making space for all the emotions that surround this theme: sadness at the need for awareness and prevention, but also progress and hope for the future. Together, we can act and save lives. Onward.

When we lose someone to overdose, they leave an empty chair where their light used to be. This month – and every month – we pay tribute to those who have been lost and have compassion for those grieving. If you are looking to reflect, please visit IOAD’s heartfelt tribute page on their website.

RiVive® 3 mg naloxone nasal spray offers the lowest dose of OTC intranasal naloxone available in the U.S., and this low, compassionate dose reduces the risk of precipitated withdrawal. Here are a few more reasons to choose RiVive. Please share with your harm reduction community!

For us, choosing RiVive® 3 mg as your go-to naloxone nasal spray is an actionable & compassionate way to live out the message of International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). Everyone deserves to come back from an overdose – in the most compassionate way possible.

One of the major tenets of harm reduction is that everyone deserves the same level of care, dignity & respect – regardless of where you’ve been, where you are now, and where you’ll go from here. How do you show compassion through your actions?

Our very own Van Asher – a harm reduction expert, longtime EMT, and passionate educator – explains that one of the most important tools for someone providing care during an overdose is the timer on your phone or your watch. Such a simple, practical tip goes a long way. Thanks, Van!

During National EMS Week, we recognize the role EMS workers have in protecting those experiencing overdose and those who are at risk of one. Over 50% of non-fatal overdoses refuse transport to the ER, making EMS’ actions even more impactful. Not only do EMS save lives, but they also save dollars.
