A limited number of travel bursaries (up to £300) for our Grant Writing Retreat is now available for those who would otherwise be unable to attend. They will be prioritised for those who can clearly demonstrate need, so we encourage applicants to provide an accurate account of their circumstances.

WHO’S IT FOR?

Researchers at any career stage who are interested in developing strong bids in the field of population health research using smartphones and wearables are invited.  You must come ready with a study idea. This can be a study that you hope to take forwards, or a hypothetical idea.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?  You will attend practical sessions and hear advice from our experienced instrurctors. You will also be able to attend advice clinics themed around technology, best IG practices, as well as how to incorporate PPIE.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN? 

Writing a bid is never easy, regardless of what stage you are at in your
research career.

The field of health research using smartphones and wearables is always
developing. That’s why our Grant Writing Retreat has been designed to give you all the guidance you need to write a strong case for your research using smartphones and wearables.WILL I GET FEEDBACK ON MY OWN RESEARCH IDEA?

During the retreat, you will be asked to pitch your idea to our instructors, who will then give you feedback. As the retreat progresses, you will learn new ways to improve and refine your pitch from attending talks and advice clinics.
Finally, you will be asked to re-pitch your ideas, demonstrating a strong improvement by the end of the event.

WHAT ARE THE REGISTRATION FEES?

There are two options:
£120 - covers 4* hotel accommodation, evening meal out at a Manchester restaurant & event fee.
£50 - covers event fee only.
