Let's learn a lesson from the nearly 500K of us who mobilized to comment on the OMB rules. We can leave the sidelines, take action and it can make a difference. After 15 months of inaction, our scientific societies finally woke up and mobilized members. It doesn't stop there 1/n

Deadline July 13th: 82,000 comments to u.s. OMB is not enough
MAAAS
On May 29, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a proposed rule, titled Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance, which could have far-reaching consequences on the American STEMM enterprise and damaging global implications.
Time is running out to speak up: Submit your comment to OMB on this proposed rule by Monday, July.
13.
In case you missed our emails, including the virtual event last week and video message from our CEO, AAAS is pushing back on this proposal that bucks the will of Congress and the American people. Earlier this month, AAAS experts reviewed the 400+ page proposal from the OMB and developed an executive summary of key issues. We also shared this guide on how the STEMM community can craft an effective comment on the OMB proposal.
For those who are still working on finalizing your comments, you can join the AAAS Office of Government Relations and Mike Holland, chair of Section X - Societal Impacts of Science and Engineering, this Thursday, July 9, from 3-4 p.m. ET for a session to review FAQs and ask your questions about the process. Register now.
After you submit your comment to OMB, please let us know so we can understand what's working and where more resources may be needed. You can also raise awareness by sharing your concerns with your elected officials.
Thank you -your action for the STEMM enterprise ahead of the OMB's July 13 deadline is critical.
Sincerely,
AAAS Office of Government Relations
