When Mary Kennedy's body was found at her home in Bedford, NY, her fingers were between her neck and the noose implying that she may have tried to stop her suicide at the last minute.

Ashar confirmed to the New York Daily News that 'the fingers from both of [Mrs. Kennedy's] hands were between the rope and the neck." According to the autopsy report, there was an abrasion on Mary's finger from the rope. Although her fingers' placement between her neck and the rope point to an attempt to save herself, Dr. Ashar says it could simply be that "she was trying to place the rope around her neck."
