Maybe it’s luck. Maybe it’s the Spanish I haven’t used in 15 years. So far every bus has taken me to the right place. I’ve had some complicated transfers, picking up busses from the side of the highway, figuring out taxi colectivos. #Mexico

I always remember in school learning about the lake that the early Mexico City was surrounded by. There is still a section of lake and canals left at Xochimilco. #CDMX

Stuck in slow moving traffic on a bus. At least it has some good bass on the stereo. #cdmx

Perfect. This was called the small plate in the Mexican style. Beef, chicken, chorizo, nopal, and even a quesadilla in there. #TacoReview #onionLovers #mexicanFood

All those stair walks around Mexico City and Pachuca were training for this. Big steps to get up the pyramid. #Teotihuacan #Mexico #Ruins

Maybe it’s because I’ve walked 10 miles in the sun, but this could be the best margarita I’ve ever had. #Teotihuacan #Mexico

#Pechuca is a historic silver mining town. Like most mining towns, the Cornish miners came. And now you can get a Cornish Pasty on almost every corner. #pasty #Mexico

#Papantla translates to "place of the papanes,” a crow like bird. There’s a couple of thousands of them in the city square. Listen. #birds

Made it to #Papantla #Mexico. It’s actually a bit chilly here. That’s nice. Veracruz was hot and humid.

Spotted on my 4 hour bus ride from #Veracruz north to Papantla today. By that pointy mountain was where the first Veracruz was founded by Cortés. They moved the city twice.

Not an old Spanish fort, but it fits. It is the symphony hall of #Veracruz

Another old Spanish fort for the day. The last section on the #Veracruz walls. The official name of the town is Heroica Veracruz. It earned its heroic title 4 times (invaded by the Spanish, French, and Americans 2x). I guess the wall didn’t help.

Volován de jaiba for breakfast. Mexico lost the 1838 Pastry War against France, but they did get this pastry. This one was filled with crab and was surprisingly spicy. #Veracruz #pastry

A view over the river in #Orizaba, and bottomless tacos for about $10 USD. Three types of meat to choose from. Plus grilled onion and peppers. And fries? #tacoReview #Mexico
