Back before COVID and NIL, in hockey it wasn't uncommon for teams to add guys to the roster at the semester due to injury or whatever. But that was almost always players from Junior Hockey, and not another NCAA team.

Maybe there's a legit reason he's stepping down now, but it always feels so scummy that a coach can do this (looking at your Bruce Pearl) and basically handcuff the players to the interim coach, because at this point there is basically nothing the players can do to get out and go elsewhere.

That is legit an all-time "what if?" in CFB. He'd just won 10 games at Alabama, got offered a 10-year contract to stay, who knows how college football changes if he rides out that NCAA punishment and signs that deal.

I mean, no different than now where most of November up north has brutal conditions for the games. Instead of them being during conference play, you'd have Michigan-UTEP or whatever in bad weather, and then perfect conditions for Michigan-Ohio State 2-3 months later.

Probably is. The problem is the NFL doesn't want to pay for or invest in one. They tried it with NFL Europe, which was a great idea, but they lost money hand over fist all to develop a handful of extra players a year. I kind of wonder if the UFL/CFL would ever merge to make something like that.

Yeah, that would be not great. You are right the NFL would probably nix it. But for college football it would all seem to make sense. Shoot, if HS football stayed in the fall it would REALLY allow coaches to get out and recruit rather than attempting to do it in-season.

Not kidding, this would solve a ton of CFB's problems. Yes it would solve the scorching games in August/September, but would also make it so the season doesn't cross into another semester, so players aren't transferring out during the playoff. There'd be a whole summer to recruit, train, etc.

If you buy seats on the secondary market they don't get that money, but yeah, the parking, food, merch, etc., would still be going to them. But man, you'll never get a cheaper better chance to take the kid than now lol. I keep hoping the Predators tank down here so I can take our kid up for a game.

*BONG RIP* Move college football to the spring entirely. February to early June. There's your year-round football that TV people seem to think we all want. Draft is after the season, right into NFL training camps, and then the NFL starts. Everyone wins. I see zero downside to this.

I know it's the playoffs, and the teams there have the best pitching, it's why they got there, but a .627 OPS is just fucking brutal. I said all season it felt like offense was way down, and this sure isn't doing anything to dissuade that. IDK what the solution is, but something needs to change.
