They do, and the "Im just not going to buy in an HOA" is becoming harder and harder in some places because their existence does take some development pressure off the local municipality. It just also gives people something to do when they dont have much else goin on in their life and it gets weird.

Even if its 80% accurate, its better than the 20% I can do on my own and at that point Ill at least more or less be where everyone else is. Problem is people think these use cases is "computer over human" and not what they are in reality: "the best we can do vs not trying at all".

Well sure especially captioning in post but thats a bit beyond the scope of who were talking about here. Seems almost pavlovian when a title contest, con, or just a performer introduces captions for the audience they have to shrink themselves instead of saying "hey, listen to people who need it".

Human captioners and pro CART is wonderful. It also costs a lot of money, and community orgs have limited budgets. If those captions help a small org make its events more accessible for folks like me, thats worth more than whatever new purity test you cooked up. We all deserve to participate.

I lost my hearing later in life. I dont know how to sign. I've also experienced first hand when live captioning helps me participate in a community event Id otherwise struggle to follow. The mulekick against machine work has a massive blind spot when it comes to accessibility, as explained below.
