You owe me a fresh coffee. And a new keyboard...

I always like to think of Catford as once being the centre of the UK's film industry (Windsor Film Studios, Bromley Road).

Every day, several Brexiteers die. Every day, several people who were just eight years old in 2016 acquire the right to vote, but are denied the right to work and study in European countries. Tick-tock, tick-tock...

When the American empire collapses, will they be saying, "We gave the world Starlink, you know", in the same way Reformers still like to utter something about 'us' giving India the railways?

Schrödinger's immigrants. Simultaneously taking all the jobs, while on benefits and living in a taxpayer-funded 5-star hotel.

When I was a student in the 1980s, I bought some jeans from a charity store in SE London and found a small bag of cannabis resin in the rear pocket. Sadly, you don't get that level of service anymore...

I remember the couple of kids at primary school who couldn't read from a book, and the rest of us had to sit in silence while they tried to form each word in a staccato fashion. I just had a flashback.

I strongly recommend an App called AuroraWatch. It gives push notifications for alerts. I received the alert yesterday, but I was too busy to check it out.

I remember when the appearance of pocket calculators was seen as a step backwards because older people worried that younger people wouldn't remember how to do long division manually, or would forget how to use log tables & slide rules.

When I was training as an ACCA accountant, the module with the lowest pass rate of all (29%) was the first auditing paper. Even now, I remember the main question, and it related to an entertainment organisation with financial discrepancies. Plus ça change... BTW, I passed the paper. Just.

I suspect RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, RAF Fylingdales, RAF Fairford, and RAF Diego Garcia don't continue to serve British interests... However, dismantling them will be something that Putin wants. Perhaps we should remind the Americans of this (but kicking them off Diego Garcia will be tricky).

Not until November, but I did put the heated seat in the car to setting 'one' yesterday.

Well quite. If the Budget knocks 5p off a bottle of wine, Sainsbury’s don’t reduce the price from £9.99 to £9.94. A house priced at £499,999, won’t drop by £20K if the heating system costs the builder less. The builder just pockets the £20k.

I think I'll stick to watching videos on 'disused branch lines' rather than Googling "how to finger a lock". You can't trust those algorithms - I don't want the Police at the door at 2 am, thank you very much...

This would only work if there were 'observers' from The Party in every classroom. Political Observers - is that what it's come to?

When Dad used to live & work (and drive) in Paris, he used to joke that it was entirely normal for Parisians to park their cars with one wheel on the zebra crossing and one on the pavement. Paris has changed immensely over the last 37 years. I figure they got fed up with cars faster than we will.

I'm in the same boat (more than enough ciders in the garden on the final day of Summer sunshine). Might watch it on catch-up. Expect it will feel slightly less teeth-pulling cringe than anything from the Tories, from 'Peppa Pig' Johnson's speech to May's Dancing Queen appearance.

Surely the real fuel thieves are in the White House. After all, it was they who siphoned off Venezuela's oil. Two-tier piracy!

I stopped going to Oxford Street after Marks & Spencer removed their paternoster lift (anybody could use it if they knew where it was hidden). Cheap thrills.

I think that is an entirely reasonable response. They may object under the ECHR, but there must be exceptions...

Being ‘against’ electric vehicles makes about as much sense as being ‘against’ electric washing machines.

The consequences of Brexit on agriculture look surprisingly like farmers and fishermen voted to have economic sanctions imposed on themselves. I was led to believe that the EU needed us more than we needed them. 🤔

If Labour don't do it, the Tories will. I've always said that they will be the first party to break rank and claim it as their own.

I think we’re nearly at the stage in “Nineteen Eighty-Four” where every home has a government “Telescreen” fitted, which can’t be turned off. Christ, Orwell was smart.

We’re watching an American Empire collapsing faster than the British Empire did. One man and a decade is all it took.

I would like to think that Burnham is receiving advice from intelligence services to allow them to gather more information about the organisation's structure before some 4 am raids. There's more value in building a conspiracy case against ringleaders than kettling a few thugs in Dover.

No, I think they will happily prosecute the attendees, but they will leave Farage alone, even for misconduct in a public office.

They’re all wearing lanyards. It means there is a database somewhere with photos, names, and addresses. It’s a job that even a work experience intern could solve by lunchtime.

At what point does Swarbrick get a visit from a couple of thugs with Union Flag tattoos on their necks to let him know they know where he lives and where his children go to school? And then ask him to toe the Farage line?

Reform UK Ltd will certainly be vetting everybody now. They won't know who to trust now. A smart person will whisper in Farage's ear that there may be another sting operation underway and watch the fallout.

Christ, it's like the late 1990s when politicians suggested that if the new-fangled internet got dangerous, they should unplug it. FWIW, don't unplug it, but regulate it properly. I find it has increased my efficiency by orders of magnitude (but don't tell them - they'll raise my monthly payment).

As admirable as it appears, Henning Wehn famously said: "We don't do charity in Germany. We pay taxes. Charity is a failure of governments' responsibilities".

I use AI to generate a lot of polished prose, and it has improved my efficiency vastly. AI can help me here, but it has been programmed to point-blank refuse a medical diagnosis if I ask. With training, it could generate that fake page in seconds (setting up a domain takes longer).
