Ten Mysterios, you say? Interesting... I'll have to confirm if this just some throwaway joke of course, for such a specific joke (I already did)... A Marvel movie that steals the premise of the 1998 D...

It's probably a very good thing that this isn't the first adaptation of Death of a Salesman that I've seen, because even though there's elements that I like here this is easily the weakest approach to...

Not really sure why this is one of NWF's more maligned films, as I think it's one of the most unique amongst his filmography & something I wish he would attempt again. In between the gritty punk aspec...

Quite possibly Oshii's most bizarre project, not only because it aims for a screwball comedy tone that I've almost never seen in any of his other work but also for introducing the Jin-Roh universe wit...

A comedy made for those in academia; not just because it takes place in a higher education environment but something about the absurdly dry affect-less way the humor is delivered here feels like somet...

**NOTES ON REWATCH** - The opening song does NOT sound like something Wyld Stallyns would make - The Joan of Arc thing is pretty clever for Ted - Bill has his name on his shirt, how cute - Weird that ...

**Notes on the "De-Specialized" Edition** - Man R2 & 3PO are way dirtier than I remember at the start - You really get a sense of this being the 70's in bit actor male voices being so flat & nasally -...

One of the quintessential Atomic Age 50's sci-fi movies, or to be more precise about 3 shots from this represent in a way the entirety of sci-fi from the decade. If you haven't seen this movie, you've...

**REWATCH NOTES** - Why do the titles come in like it's a cop drama or a wacky 90's comedy - I forgot about that insert shot of the bees descending on Chicago... and Ted Raimi! - They set up almost in...

**NOTES ON REWATCH** - the opening is a lot shorter than I remembered - how did I forget about the absurd cat-level scream sex - Freddy's just like "wait hold up look at my finger goo real quick" - Wh...

While this can is still home to some so-so Chinese comedy stylings that I don't totally gel with (not nearly as bad as some Chinese movies I've seen but nothing really gut-bustingly funny or memorable...

Another addition to the avalanche of Gimmick Roguelikes in the wake of Balatro, but what makes this one stick out above the pile of cheap cash-ins & essentially paid beta tests are a striking sense of design & in some ways the logical endpoint of these kinds of games by being governed so ...

An insanely impressive midpoint between live action cartoon absurdist slapstick & incredible wire-fu wuxia choreography, with the most shocking part of this for a Chinese film this broad is that it's ...

The final Atomic Heart DLC ends the game on a pretty solid note keeping up mostly consistent trends in the game so far: new inventive locales/mechanics with touches of Slavjank present throughout. Whi...

Burnt Offerings But Prison, basically. A full stock simple idea but executed about as good as it can be which is why this evens out to a little above the middle ground. Using this as what feels like a...

Possibly the most schlocky & blatant stupid of all the Godzilla movies, which is REALLY saying something. Hey, it's the big huge giant anniversary, it makes sense in a kaiju series to "go big or go ho...

A movie where the movie itself feels like a time portal back to the late 2000's, maybe like 2008-ish. The writing, concept, even the performances feel like an unproduced Broken Lizard script fell thro...

A perfectly fine if a little thin for it's runtime superhero movie, which ironically puts it above quite a few other Superman movies. If I really took the time there's actually quite a lot that could ...

Dollar Tree Guardians of the Galaxy, Family Dollar Dune, and Dollar General Mad Max all smushed together in an industrial press & a thin layer of a muddy puddle glaze applied to the whole thing. A "Mo...

I am extremely curious to learn the backstory of how this movie got funded, what studio notes changed what in the initial drafts, and what David Robert Mitchell himself has to say about this. The fact...

REWATCH NOTES * The exact sequence of words "Michael Clayton" is said 3 times throughout the movie. - Terrible tiny title cliche but great opening - I like that we don't see if Michael won or lost in ...

Maybe the most unique Doomlike/GZDoom game I've ever played, which mostly works in it's favor with a few design downsides & major balancing downsides. For positives though, this is a conceptually ...

I'm a big fan of Dennis Potter's work generally, and having seen the original Bob Hoskins series before this I can say that I think this is a distinct enough interpretation of the source material to n...

A consistently frustrating movie, as the more inspired & bizarre decisions that can make it fun are constantly being dragged down by a general uncommitted vibe. It's almost as if this movie knows it's...

After having learned of the confusingly broken chronology of the Patlabor franchise, the only saving grace of something that botched is that the films can really stand on their own as long as you have...

Although I'm still making my way through the series as a whole, this does feel like a great introduction (albeit a little awkward as it feels like this either needed to be a full 12 episodes or a shor...

"With insomnia, nothing's real. Everything is far away." John Landis's entry into the Neo-Noir genre, which comes out... awkward? There are a lot of elements here to like, but the core issue of Landis...

**Fanedit Version** One of the more "middle of the road" Classic Who stories: not boring or crummy-looking or overly silly but also not the most original idea for a plot or the wildest execution of it...

Whatever producer allowed Ron Howard to go to market with a title like that should have beaten with an ogre club; I'm not gonna look up how many negative contemporaneous reviews utilized the title to ...

REWATCH NOTES - Watching this specifically after having listened to an audio play version & it "clicking" a lot more for me than in past viewings - Interesting this is Stoppard's only directorial effo...

A series that acts as a parabola: very slow to start, becomes maybe the best thing NWR has ever made in the middle, then trails off to kind of a meandering nothing of an ending. Nicholas Winding Refn'...

REWATCH NOTES - I do not remember most of this movie - Surprisingly good lighting for a 90's comedy - I love that the Coneheads are slightly overcranked all the time - Look at little baby young buck A...

REWATCH NOTES - all the heads of the kids at the beginning looks really funny - all the guys at the flapper show lit so their eyes are exactly in darkness - the helicopter shots look great for the tim...

REWATCH NOTES - Almost sure the area in the opening is one of the ones in the primary episodes of the web series, the one where the guy ends up in the room full of amp equipment (which I think is one ...

Pfffffff........ I think... he essentially made Inception again, just like Tenet. Whereas Tenet was a pretty direct analogue as it's a lot of the same beats just with time manipulation instead of drea...

As long as you can accept one of the core ridiculous BL "asks" of this show, that not only can gay sex magic be used (and may be necessary) to cure magical sickness but it's something that is not broa...

A film that for me feels like the start of the Western deconstruction era, the stepping stone that would lead directly to something like The Wild Bunch & ultimately Unforgiven. Exists inside of a lot ...

Not only another trashassic from Seagal, this is honestly up there as maybe 2nd or 3rd amongst his funniest next to Under Siege (an actually good movie he just happens to be in) & On Deadly Ground (hi...

A gorgeous & vivid modern wuxia pseudo-love triangle with some of the best lighting & framing I've maybe ever seen in any of these films. Follows a lot of tropes & traditions one would come to expect ...

One of the better DC Animated projects, partially because this is I think the first that I couldn't tie back to an existing comic adaptation (it might exist but I'm not familiar with it) so my expecta...

A movie that starts out as one type of movie, a Spirited Away-esque otherworldly adventure, then kind of loses the plot halfway through to try to become a moody artsy-fartsy story about teenage angst,...

I had taken a while to get this movie, mainly because it seemed like the most "blip" in John Carpenter's career: not as ridiculed as Ghosts of Mars or The Ward but certainly not one of his classics. P...

**FANEDIT - THE ROGUE CUT** NOTES: - Man I still hate how boring the Sentinels look, the curse of 2010's blandening for "Serious Vibes" - Hugh Jackman was NEVER hairy enough to be Wolverine - All the ...

I think I need to keep up my partial habit of "waiting til long after they're in the news cycle to watch critically or audience acclaimed" movies, because it's interesting to watch them with the knowl...

Now, why would I bother watching the 3rd installment of the modern revamping of a series where I have disliked the previous two entries? You see, I was promised a movie that even the fans of this mode...
