sure that’s how they justified it after the fact but after biden’s last debate it was up in the air as to who would be the candidate moving forward. they considered and could have picked most anyone yet chose Harris and constructed a new platform for her to run on. those choices resulted in trump 2

Rich coming from the party that can’t stop loosing to the dumbest people on the planet. Hillary, Harris, etc would have won if they had a platform with concrete promises, formed from conviction, that was easy to articulate. DSA has been cleaning up because they run better campaigns.

Kamala Harris never won a primary as a presidential candidate. They hand picked who would run against trump.

What pressure? yell at them online while they have lobbyists knocking down their doors, offering cash, inviting them to swanky dinner parties?

Unfortunately these people mostly only listen to power and money. even now, they won’t commit to substantive change in the wake of all this lawlessness. The vote is the little bit of power we have to wield. Pretty fatalistic to say that we don’t get to vote our convictions.

I don’t think anyone in this thread is arguing for accelerationism. The Main point is dem accountability so that we achieve a better party rather than just not as evil as the other guys party.

See when they say shitlib they mean this, people without backbone or principle, disgusted by those who have a moral compass and expect others to as well. Mamdani is doing fine. It’s good people are pressing him on the NYPD, i think he needs it. Really, it’s ok to hold people in power accountable.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 15/10/2026
Mamdani is doing fine in New York. There’s ways to get stuff done, no matter the circumstances if you actually want to put in the work and deliver.

Sorry you are getting hard to follow, probably time to log off. I’d ask what candidates and what problems but I don’t think there’s a coherent thought there. All the dsa candidates are plenty popular, you can sit this one out if you’re so upset.

We should expect a lot of the people in power. They work for us. Getting angry at politicians is the most American thing you can do.

Yeah it’s great. they moved left to him because that’s how we win. El-Sayed and the DSA’s picks are setting the party agenda now. Obama and Harris are fine if they support the right positions. it’s crazy how you all only see politics as team sport identity fandom.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 15/10/2026
Yes 100% if you’re not jazzed, plenty of us are happy to carry home an agenda where government delivers for working people and actually win elections while standing up for neighbors, rights, and against oligarchs rather than settling for corrupt politicians with no backbone that cannot win elections

20-22 were wasted years. dems had the power and were content sitting on their hands putting on show trials for Jan 6th protestors rather than making sure it never happened again. No transformative legislation passed, no real accountability. Fine stuff was done but all a day late and a dollar short.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Wild take. DSA candidates are setting The agenda now. If anything, you centrists need to just sit down and vote when we tell you to and we’ll get this all sorted.

They put way more energy behind the primaries because they are more scared of loosing power to the left than the existential threat on the right. The strategy for years has been attack the left in the primaries, cozy up to the right in the general election.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Dems need to worry that they don’t have your vote otherwise why would they comply with the will of the many? They’ll just outspend, lie, racist dog whistle, etc, in the primary liked they tried to do in Michigan, New York, and then count on your vote for the slop candidate they pushed through.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
I voted. most politically aware did. we Did our part, the people who were supposed to put up a decent candidate and platform after Biden fizzled out didn’t do theirs.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
If you can look at the dem leadership and their response to this moment and complain that we’re not giving them enough credit, you’ve got loooow standards for elected officials. They viciously went after dsa candidates in the primaries rather than putting up a fight to fascism for our rights.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Oh no people should get out, especially this election since all you centrists lost your primaries To dsa candidates. I’m expecting there will be no issue with turnout this time.

Agree, voting for MAGA is idiotic yet, dems couldn’t pull out a win. Kamala never won a primary as a presidential candidate. If you’re gonna decree who gets to be president you better win.

not new, I delete my posts often. No doom, simple point is dems need to appeal to voters interests, run a compelling campaign, and have a moral backbone rather than expect votes simply because they are not the republicans. If they want power they better win and fucking use it.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Ah the eternal chicken or the egg. Was it the voters not voting or the platform of defending genocide. Who can say?

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
I think I’m understanding that you people just don’t believe in or value democracy, you want party rule. That’s why you don’t win. Running for office means representing the interests of your potential constituents, not trying to cram the party line down their throats and demand that they like it.

They also could grown a pair and put some folks in prison between 2020-2022 other than just the low level Jan 6th protestors but they just wanted to get back to comfy normal lobbyist driven politics.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
These arguments are so silly. Of course the didn’t do these things but that doesn’t mean they could have picked a winning candidate or platform when the christened Kamala as the rightful heir to the throne. If you’re gonna unilaterally choose a candidate for all of us they better fucking win.

You’re inventing these incoherent leftists that somehow justified voting for trump. of course everyone ended up voting against him, I did. Clearly though the base wasn’t energized and the swing voters didn’t see the dems capable of delivering on a compelling future.

AND promising a substantive agenda of government working for people WHILE condemning Israel's actions in Palestine as genocide. They could have done those back in 2024 and won. thankful the dsa is pulling everyone to the left.

Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
They don’t get results AND they did not meet the moment. Both are true. Biden did some good things! Doesn’t mean he and the dems didn’t squander 2020-2022 to deliver for the American people.
100
Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
no it’s simply that our democracy was facing an existential threat and the Democratic Party was no match for it. They gambled big hoping they could win without promising substantive change and they lost.
210
Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Wasn’t enough nor the right stuff to meet the moment. They lost. Kamala ran on wonky means tested half steps along with more money for Israel and it cost her. DSA candidates are now showing the way forward to actually win elections and the dems are loosing their minds.
100
Hooptydoopty @hooptydoopty.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Dems gambled that they could have their cake and eat it too by giving no ground to what voters clearly wanted and still win. They lost because of that gamble and I hope they don’t play so fast and loose with our democracy moving forward.

Agree with 1 and 2 is debatable. Dems feeling entitled to your vote despite no results, getting bought by big money, is a good chunk of what got us to this moment.
