Our feature artist/reference for today is this WONDERFUL page on how to draw WINGS by the talented @jenndeut! I love a model sheet like this, which actually explains WHAT the different wing types DO, not just HOW they LOOK! So useful! #gamedev #animationdev #conceptart #manga

So many times I've thought about making my own discord server but I am just so bad at keeping up with the servers I'm in already. Maybe I'll try to be more active in those and see how that works out

Cavy @hooded-cavy.bsky.social · 02/05/2026

I know instagram isn't the best place but I think it's where I'm most comfortable posting in the future (also a bunch of my friends are already on there so I won't feel as alone there compared to everywhere else aha)

Cavy @hooded-cavy.bsky.social · 02/05/2026

can't imagine I'll be using this account much anymore (as if I was ever active to begin with lmao) but I'm finally gonna revive my instagram in the next few days sooooo follow me there I guess www.instagram.com/hooded.cavy/

I know instagram sucks for artists but I've come to realize I simply don't like posting to most other places. Also most of my friends are on there whereas I feel like I'm just standing alone in an alleyway everywhere else

Reference vs Art, p. 2. Call me oldschool, but I like creating my own maquettes and models from the available real life materials. They are useful for determining the lighting & cast shadows, but also come in handy in tricky perspective & foreshortening spots. Various older work.

A collage of four photos showcasing the maquettes: 1. a dragon head, 2. a crudely made plasticine quadruped body held by toothpics, 3. a paper ball roughly shaped in a dragon body, and cutout wings, glued together with a tape, 4. similar materials were used for another flying dragon maquette

A collage of four digital paintings: an enormous whale-dragon creature is approaching a blimp. Realistic Absol. The remaining two picture a dragon flying in cloudy areas.

Some sketchbook stuff from last january and this january ✏️ 1. peach study and griffin based on a temminck's tragopan 2. stoat doodle to cover up some marker bleed through 3. quetzalcoatlus based on a cassowary 4. black rufous elephant shrew #cavyart #animalart #traditionalart

Two traditional marker and pencil drawings on a white background. The top drawing is of a peach study, with orange and yellow action markings to the right of it. The bottom drawing is a halfbody of a brown and blue griffin with large tufted ears and a stern expression.

A fullbody traditional marker drawing of a white winter stoat. The background is mostly blue, with white highlights to resemble snow.

A traditional marker and paint bust drawing of a blue and black quetzalcoatlus with a brown and black beak and crest. It has additional red markings along its neck and shoulders. The background is white with yellow, green, and purple stars.

A traditional fullbody, stylized paint marker drawing of a black rufous elephant shrew on a mostly white background except for a blue rectangle behind it. The animal itself is a long-nosed shrew with an orange head and brown shoulders, while the rest of the body is black. It has a long, yellow tail.
