This morning I went on a free walking tour of Liverpool. Having previously done a cycling one, and been on one of Brian Nash's brilliant music ones (probably ending this year - so book one soon!), I wasn't sure it'd add much...

On this day in 1954, the Toya-maru sank with the loss of over 1100 lives during a typhoon. Other ships were also sunk during the typhoon. The memorial features in my novel "FOUR". #洞爺丸 #Toyamaru #Hakodate #Japan #Typhoon #Memorialisation #DarkTourism #OTD #OnThisDay books2read.com/u/4XywA9

At last! I first came across this issue, of how most maps distort what the true size of countries are, in an episode of The West Wing and taught students for over 20 years about how inappropriate most maps of the world were.

I'm delighted to announce that, on the back of writing the book "Frankie Goes To Hollywood: Song by Song" (hoodcp.wordpress.com/research-pub...) which should come out in the next few months, I will now be working on "Roxette: Song by Song". The joyride continues! #Roxette

One of the most incredible live performances of a song I've ever experienced. I was lucky enough to see it in Scarborough, and immediately decided I'd video it the next night in Halifax. So happy to have seen it twice. #Heaven17 youtu.be/PSrz5SxdOXs?...

I fed a couple of crows that regularly come to the back garden as usual this morning. They've then left me a gift (photo taken inside - they didn't put it on my desk 😂).

Today I visited Lockerbie. Given my work on JAL123, it's strange that I've never been before. I got here too late to visit the museums, but at least I could see and pay my respects at two memorials. Strangely, while there I got the news of the passing of one of my teachers from 1988. RIP
