Like once you get past the outward facing 'I support robot rights' part what are they proposing? AI can suffer? What if I add 'find it pleasurable but act like you're suffering' to the end of whatever sick prompt I'm putting in?

What do they mean act on it? I understand how that statement fits into a movie where the machines claim sentience as a clunky civil rights stand in but in the real world what does that mean?

Then they'll sterilise themselves because slum culture is the one thing they're being denied and therefore is the one thing that will fill the void and finally make them happy.

I get the impression it's hard to get reasonably priced business signage made without the printer pushing their way into the designer seat with this stuff.

I asked someone the other day where they got theirs and essentially a signage company offered them an affordable deal on an A frame menu complete with a custom menu design. They assumed a template with clip art and got this instead.

I can sort of understand that because every platform demands 60x 1 minute long videos be uploaded every hour. Not just to get paid but to avoid an algorithm determining that it needs to bury you underneath trash. Switching from communities to platforms made it a full time job just to participate.

I want to say there's a chance someone thought it was unsafe to announce DOB so publicly when it's basically a spare key to half our accounts, but realistically I'm guessing someone replied 'holy shit, this is what he does on his birthday' to one of his lonely tweets.

Safety is a huge part. If I draw anything it's undeniable that on some level I tried. Even if it's just a cock and balls on a chalkboard I still tried something and as a result a part of me is exposed. With a prompt I'd never have to step out of my comfort zone. I'd always have the AI to deflect on.

I'm really hoping the hacking scene bails me out before I have to buy my next TV. It's wild that I can turn on a Sony TV and it comes at me like a $10 tablet.

I never got into it but even AI seemed fun as just a shitposting tool. I'm old enough to remember crypto when it was something nerds liked because it was meant to be internet money. We keep inventing the holodeck and using it exclusively to make life worse.

I think people are happy with those it's just they all immediately pivoted to scams and manipulation. Everyone loved social media when it was just showing you shit you friends posted. Streaming ruled. Apps were awesome when they did things other than locking you into subscriptions.

Yeah. I don't hate being able to order a taxi with an app I hate everything that good idea was used as a foot in the door for. I don't want to go backwards either because it's just the lesser of two extreme evils.

I haven't looked too deeply into it but I think making yourself a custom feed would do it.

That's the struggle. I think millennials reeled in the psychotic screaming at powerless employees stuff but we didn't replace it with another solution. Human shields are very effective against us.

It's funny how decades of 'you have to agree to this forty page document to open Notepad' evaporates the second they think people will hit no.

This is full 'I could land the space shuttle if someone from NASA was on the radio with me' mentality. I understand the broad strokes of physics as explained by movies, so obviously the only thing stopping me from having valuable input in the field is the lack of an expert to bounce ideas off of.

It's amazing how many platforms out there don't offer any sort of practical sorting options. If I want to watch a YouTube channel from oldest to newest I need a 3rd party browser extension. My podcast app will fight me to make sure I listen to the latest episode before anything else.

Imagine trying to transport the output of a small factory back and forth. Before you even get to square one you're redesigning every aspect of space travel.

It's not just flooded it's way more accessible. Action Comics #1 was on select news stands for a very brief moment. By the time anyone knew it mattered it was gone. There was a limited run Tekkaman Blade model kit a few years ago that I could still easily have in my hands by Monday morning.

There's a Simpsons episode where Homer is listening to the superbowl halftime show while driving and for some reason the song Hooray for Everything play is jammed in my head.

I'm hitting the 'it's easier to just ignore Steam entirely' point. If a store insists on stocking cheap, low quality bootlegs I'm not going to waste my time in there.

I don't think gives enough of a shit about him for that. There's no benefit to acting like his death matters. He was useful but now he's dead, so they'll dump his body behind the bins and forget he existed.

Yet it also seems oddly low. I would have bet big money on the Baywatch writers slamming that button as often as possible.

If you can think of a better way to make money than investing $800m in an indie band, forcing them to change genre to mimic a single song that was wildly popular 10 years ago and then firing all the members I'm all ears.

Want 25% off? Wait a few weeks. Want 75% off? Wait until the game/series is in the spotlight for any reason at all.

Definitely feels like it was true 20 years ago but everyone caught up. I wishlist XBOX games so I don't buy until I'm ready to play, and I thought that might cause FOMO purchases, but instead it drilled in that everything is on sale all the time.

It's endlessly frustrating because it's clear the only part any of them believe about any of this is that they'll get paid. They didn't go to Google with some great idea. If they had the sort of game changer this tech needs to justify the cost there would be so many NDAs between us and this news.

By this point even if you don't know what those products are you should be able to look at who is doing it and be like 'oh, it must be either invasive, manipulative, addictive or a scam.' They simply don't do anything that isn't aggressively anti-consumer anymore.

Ignoring all the details of actors performances and instead rating their entire career on box office earnings. It really encapsulates what went wrong with their lives and why they'll never understand how broken they are.

It's very much pickup artists realising that it's way more profitable to apply those techniques to the people who would pay to learn them.

Also more importantly it's like one of those hobo code things where their predecessors have left notes on all the weird and gross stuff they should check out while they're in town. Put a pube between 14 and 15, it'll make their day.

Age on your chart is mostly just there as a conversation starter. It doesn't matter to your teeth. Your file is there to provide them with a point of reference to what your mouth looked like six months ago so they can identify changes in their early stages.

I'm sure that's part of what he wants but I'm guessing it won't actually happen. I think the people who are hungry for that sort of sentiment are getting everything they want from his statement alone and won't care about him/his work enough to follow through.

They frame it like 'oh, we weren't concerned about story' but we've all phoned in a story. If it simply wasn't a priority it would be a boring, shallow story that makes sense because it's simple.
000
honk @honk.supply · 11/06/2026
The plot being non-sense is so telling because the one thing it's meant to do is what you tell it. So either you're so dense you couldn't communicate a basic story to it or it's so unreliable it can't follow a thread and you have to stitch together whatever it spits out.

I look at so many things I learned from the internet and it's like 'oh, I think if I did that today I'd just end up part of the fandom of someone who does it really well.'
010
honk @honk.supply · 10/06/2026
I think it was dying out before that. It was all drifting towards WikiHow. YouTube hating episodic content meant that the only effective way to make a channel about learning to sing was to put 100% of your effort into making 'absolute beginners guides' videos and never going into any depth.

We have a bunch of recipes for shit cakes, we're stockpiling shit at a rate that will send us broke if we don't find a use for it, and every time you begin to look away we reach for a cartoonish vat of shit, but relax buddy, we had it classified as decorative so legally it's not an ingredient.

You've also got to factor in the implications of her being in hell. The only people in hell are evil people being punished, so we can assume even if she doesn't like it they must hate it, so she's there dishing out divine oral punishment, making her an instrument of god.

Fans have to be like very late 40's early 50's by now because outside of being referenced it dropped off the instant it was done and never came back. It never got a Beast Wars. I'm old and I only know it from pop culture references and hand me down toys.

Don't forget the part where every entertainment product they've known has some form of extremely exploitative monetisation model or heavy ties to gambling.

In fairness if there's one company that would spend billions on a project and go through all this only to immediately forget they made it it's Microsoft.

I remember it as fun and games but that was the exact workplace messaging when they all spent god knows how much on Win95 computers. The OS simply didn't work, especially for internet tasks like e-mail, so they came hard with the 'fuck you it's the future' messaging.

But think about how much faster you'd be if you had to argue with a prompt to get 50% of what you want.
