Taehyung hugs her. He's broader than her, and his leather jacket creaks as it presses against her sequined dress. Did he call her that night? They would make a gorgeous couple. If Jeongguk saw them in public, he'd assume they were famous even if he didn't know their faces.

Still, despite his inadequacy, Jeongguk imagines himself in her place. Taehyung's phantom touch wraps around his waist. With the leather jacket on, he's probably broader than Jeongguk, too. Maybe he'd disappear behind Taehyung's silhouette the way this woman does. The fantasy is disorienting. He downed the first drink too quickly. He's prone to forgetting his edges when he's drunk. What he is and isn't allowed to want.

What does he have to do for Taehyung to touch him like that? To touch him at all?

Taehyung huffs out a laugh. The tension drops out of his shoulders. A smile, directed more toward the floor than toward Jeongguk, takes over his face and he tilts his head away as though to hide it. Like this, he appears the most human Jeongguk has seen him yet.
