Eddie was wounded and captured in the retreat to Dunkirk. On this day he was sketching at a window in his block when he was shot by a guard. Always remembered.. 000

BRAMBLE met the German heavy cruiser ADMIRAL HIPPER and engaged to defend the convoy. Heavily outgunned, she was lost with all hands. 100

Lying in the care of the CWGC at Hazebrouck Cemetery, the unique detail of the epitaph on his headstone shows he was highly thought of by his colleagues for his bravery and devotion to duty. The Pilot, Flt Lt Norman Mackie DSO DFC & Bar, put up a determined evasion but the damage to the Lancaster was too great and he ordered the crew to bail out. 110
