There’s a rainbow background that’s meant to hide the main game, for the shop to have focus.

Underneath, there is a green next round button and a reroll button on the left. Also underneath the yellow next there is a E letter, a space/blank letter, an A letter, another space letter, and a Z letter on the right.

RAMEN: 2x fire, loses 0.005x fire per card drawn. (Uncommon).

COOKBOOK: Spawns a random food Word Card for every 5 valid words spelled consecutively. (LEGENDARY).

ARSONIST: When a space (or blank) is “scored”, destroy all cards behind it. Gains +1 fire for each card destroyed by this card. (Uncommon).

HINT: +75 points if the spelled word is a special word. Shows the closest special word, in the text box below the card. (Common).

HAND: Allows you to hold +8 more letters. Also gives +8 draws.

Every Word Card in the game is created with a CardData resource (and a 1000-line CardExpression interpreter). Since all of the cards are data it allows me to make them faster, reuse code, and later add modding support for cards (!!!) #godot #godotengine #balatro #balatrolike #indiedev #indiegame

More word cards from the game! GIBBERISH - Every word is valid up to 9 letters. -15 max turns. EXCELLENT - Every “E” held in hand gives 1.5x fire. RULER - Gains +1/8 fire per card in word box. DROPLET - Adds +50 points, but extinguishes -3 fire. #gamedev #pixelart #indiegame #games #godot #game

The first word card, GIBBERISH, appears as three scribbles going from left to right spaced out vertically. It also has a yellow background with many scattered purple letters in the background. These letters do not form any words or sentences, making them gibberish too.

The second word card, EXCELLENT, appears as a gold medal with a red ribbon that has E+ written on it. The background is yellow with many “E+” letters.

The Blank tile isn’t a generic wildcard. Instead, it’s a space that allows you to spell multiple words in one turn. It’s removed from the word box when scored, allowing for compound word combos like “book worm” -> “bookworm”, to be scored twice. #indiegame #balatro #gamedev #gamedesign #indiedev
