On a brief mini vacay with Mr. Holly and I thought I'd try to knock a few names off my Christmas shopping list. They have such eclectic local shops down here and the goth vibes are STRONG. The name I marked off: my own. Oops.

I used AutoCrit's Market Fuel tool to assess one of my WIPs based on the outline/premise, and I know this should make me rethink everything, but instead I am just even more excited. Oops.

Booked an appointment with a local photographer for author headshots and had a packed day. This is a selfie I took at the end of it -- the actual headshots were glam and weird and gothicky and very on brand for me. I'll get them in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, filterless selfie

Elysian Fields is currently featuring works that celebrate Vampire Buffy and, errr, I might have a few of those. And more still to come. The one of mine that was selected was Drive, my ode to a soulless power couple. Find it on EF or at storiesbyholly.com

Featured Work: Drive
Creator: Holly
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Freshly turned and very grumpy about it, Buffy finds herself in a weird place. One where her friends smell like food, her former mortal enemy smells like heaven, and the so-called love of her life has made it clear that killing her is on his to-do list. Throw in some overly zealous army guys and this is not Buffy's idea of a party. So she and Spike decide to hit the road at least long enough to figure out why neither of them can hit anything else. And since they're both single and free, well, Buffy wouldn't say no to a distraction from the never-ending laugh riot that is her life. And Spike can be very, very distracting.

Good thing soulless vampires can't fall in love or she might be in trouble.

Our current features explore what happens when someone's deepest fear becomes reality. We know Buffy Summers as the Vampire Slayer. But what if she became a slayer who is also a vampire? And how would a renowned slayer killer like Spike take the news? Find all here: linktr.ee/elysianfieldsarchive

Getting professional author photos taken this week. The photographer wanted to see how some of my outfits fall on me so Mr. Holly took some photos. Forgive how tired I look. It was after work on a Friday. I needed sleep. And yes, I want EF/Spuffy repped as well, so I have those outfits planned.

Honestly, this feels like a "duh" moment but sometimes you need the obvious spelled out for you. Of course I'm doing E2L villain romance. OF COURSE I AM. Give me the choice and I'll write Spuffy forever in one form or another.

My MC's dog is her emotional anchor to the world. If the meaning changes, her response to certain situations will be nuclear. It's me. I am MC. I would burn down the world for my dogs, and so would she. #HorrorWritersChat

I think my MC's skepticism and snark will lull readers into thinking she's capable of handling what comes. She's in an usual situation, but very self-aware and capable...or so she thinks. #HorrorWritersChat

Day 4 of no response from #SirenBookStrand about the 100% claim they submitted in the Anthropic settlement for this title. A book that was scraped a good 7 years after the rights were reverted. My experience with them as an author was about as high quality as this fugly ass book cover.

Anthropic Copyright Settlement: Publishers Are Making Incorrect Claims on Authors' Payouts - Writer Beware

Siren Bookstrand is claiming a title they haven't had a legal right to in 11 years. I replied with my rights reversion confirmation and have contacted the publisher to see if they will cooperate. This is entirely on brand with my experience with Siren, and one of the reasons I took the book back.

I know I already posted about this...but to reiterate: Anthropic copyright settlement authors, PLEASE contact me (Writer Beware) if your publisher is making a claim on a book whose rights have reverted, or claiming anything other than a 50/50 split on an in-contract book. beware@sfwa.org

I am so close to the halfway point of my debut horror novel and feeling all the things. Mostly nervous because, before this year, I hadn't written horror since middle school. This is my first ever no-kissing book (no romance plot at all, actually) and I am LOVING every second but also eeep!

Rocky Horror was such a formative part of my life when I was young and in need of a community of weirdos. It made me feel seen, valued, and powerful. Losing Tim right after losing Dolly, who I have to thank for Buffy among other things, is crushing. Please make the next 80 year old the right one.

Screenshot of post with Dolly beside the Buffy cast.

HEADLINE: Dolly Parton says she was "very involved" as a producer on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." and sent gifts to the cast of the show. 'I was proud of them.'

Question: Do the people who are laughing about how No Kings "changed nothing" also think that England went, "Fine, form your own country!" after the Boston Tea Party? Or that MLK did a single protest, went home, and BAM, that was the entire civil rights movement?

Please remember something: if you had said a year ago that Trump would do even a fraction of these things, you would have been mocked, belittled, accused of “Trump derangement syndrome,” and dismissed by certain people. Identify those people and block and shun them.
