Despite everything it isn’t and could’ve been, and despite the flaws that are here, Wolverine has grown on me the further I get. It’s a letdown when compared to Insomniac’s previous work, particularly the Spider-Man games, but it doesn’t quite deserve the ire and mockery it received at launch.

I’d been putting it off but I just bought Well Dweller now because I want to support the dev in the launch window. Crypt Custodian was really great and under-appreciated. Tami and I played through it earlier this year, I think. Almost bought Wax Heads a couple times too. Maybe soon.

I like the battles and map exploration, but the rest isn’t all that deep, stimulating, or engaging, and it’s always in the way of what I want to do. Is this just not the entry for me? I wanna streamline this stuff and recruit and train as many fighters as I need, but I wanna keep on moving forward.

Does anybody have advice for how to quickly yet effectively take care of business in Dagsion between main quests? I’m spending way too much time fast traveling all over trying to build bonds, train, and use social systems. It’s kinda getting on my nerves.

Again, I’m greatly enjoying myself, and FW has pushed other games not named Elden Ring out of focus for the moment. But I think I’m waiting for the series to earn that masterful, inventive, cohesive 10/10 it’s been on the verge of achieving for over a decade. That perfect realization of its systems.

The dungeon-crawling new to Fortune’s Weave does offer increased opportunity to keep the player in action, spending less time running around the same city/hub and flipping through menu-based social systems, but it’s a bit underbaked and needs some iteration before being the solution.

I think that’s why I couldn’t stop playing Engage and ultimately found it to have a better rhythm than Three Houses – it cut, minimized, and made optional some of the fluff, allowing the combat to take center stage and be more robust and focal than its predecessor.

I’m enjoying Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave more than I anticipated early on, but I still feel like this series surrounds some of the best – if not THE best – tactics gameplay with too many shallow, time-consuming activities that could use more purpose, involvement, and innovation.

Don’t be deterred by it, but it’s not ideal. At a certain point I know I’ll have to accept I can’t do everything and will miss things, and that’s fine, but I didn’t want to start the game that way. Restarted today a couple hours ago and still not back to where I left off.

It’s unfortunate you can only reset a chapter you’re currently playing and not return to an earlier chapter even if it resets progress – and it’s even more frustrating there are no manual saves.

Now I’m debating restarting this game because I want to do and turn in as many quests as possible as I progress. This is the kind of thing that actually gets to my OCD even when I have it in control in other areas of life. I like to be thorough in games – very thorough.

In Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, I was told when you run out of free time while adventuring on the map and are forced back for the next main quest on the calendar that you’ll have time to turn in completed kindness quests before the main quest begins. You do not. God dammit, you do not.

Apparently Best Buy did not want to stock Garfield: Escape From Monday, so for now I don’t own it. Maybe they saved me from a poor decision? I like being the weirdo who’s knowledgeable about the budget licensed games, especially platformers. There’s often quality product to be found these days.

If you’re on the fence regarding Wolverine and haven’t played any of the games I just mentioned, check out one of those instead. And if you’re dead set on playing Wolverine, at least wait for a sale. I wish I would have and I normally don’t mind paying full price for a production on this level.

Replaying Elden Ring and working through Mortal Shell II while dabbling in Onimusha makes it even tougher. All three of those games handle combat much better and provide so much more agency and means of expression through combat. They eclipse Wolverine in every way other than maybe presentation.

I’m only 4-5 hours deep. I think it was 27 or 37 percent completion last I checked. I just have such little drive to even boot it up. And I didn’t go into this one hyped. I actually had an off-feeling about it since the day it was announced – and Ted Price retiring during dev enhanced the worry.

Count me as another disappointed customer when it comes to Wolverine. This game should kill it with a player like me. Grew up on Marvel comics, brawlers are my speed, Insomniac almost always delivers, and I’m a sucker for PlayStation’s big-budget presentation. But it’s so one-note and such a slog.

And to be entirely honest, I usually end up in first or second place in this league, but this was the worst team I’ve ever managed despite having some of the biggest names in baseball. It was like the Avengers of sluggers and they couldn’t hit shit. Pitching absolutely carried me.

I dunno how I pulled it off, but I made it to the finals in my fantasy baseball league. I hold almost no stat records, most teams have batting production that far exceed mine, I have few aces and built my pitching rotation largely from free agency… as far as I’m concerned, getting here was the win.

Bought it. Seems like a decent budget licensed game. The $50-$100 price (depending on version) is too high. From what I’ve played, $30 feels about right for the content & quality. It’s probably going to connect most with kids who’re fans of the brand over those of us who’ve Burned Out and Forza’d.
