The face is gray and the eyes are closed as it looks down in sorrow because this is a cemetery. Just below the chin is a pink petal of a plastic flower giving the gray photo a little colour. On the left closed eye of the statue is a spider. The body is small, hidden in the crevice of the nose and the eye, but the legs are long, reaching all the way down to the lips, and it is creepy, like a horror movie where a spider enters the eye. Right now it looks like an upside down flower pot, but rather than red, it’s a beautiful green with wispy purple hair like filaments on the top. The whole flower is covered in eyelets. This is a photo of a mushroom. It is the underside of a mushroom. The structure of the underside of a cap of a mushroom. At the top of the photo is the round edge of the mushroom, that is, if you are a faerie sitting under the mushroom, Mr. Arthur Doyle, and looking up and see the edge of the mushroom against a dark sky. A mushroom. A detail of a mushroom. There is the stalk and then the underside of the ribs that hold the top of the mushroom up. The stalk is white, and there is some yellow and the ribs are brown. But it is too close to see the top of the mushroom. It’s just the stalk and the ribs. But there is just a hint, a hint of specks of purple near where the stalk opens out to the ribs. It’s a parasite, something eating the mushroom? Or maybe its symbiotic, and they live happily together. But it looks like tiny tiny tiny sprinkles on one small section of the mushroom.

In The Chora Museum on Exoplanet 82632 there is a display of ancient fertility masks used in the annual spring festival. The Salto people are the dominant species on the planet, so I guess the masks worked. #scifi #sci-fi #exoplanet #MicroFiction #bloomscrolling #nature #photography

This is a photo of an ex flower. Or that is, what was once a flower but all the petals have fallen off. It is a stalk with a few dead petals hanging down. There is a round head on top of the stalk. It is pale brown. There are pot marks all over the head, and most of them have short sticks poking out of them, which are the remnants of the petals. Could be a mask, for fertility. Really.

This is a photo of a flower. It is a flower with seven large yellow petals. They are open wide, and each petal has a slight cupped shape, which helps it to stay stable and upright. The photo is centred on one of the petals, there is a strong light from one side so this petal is bright yellow, while the others are in partial or all shadow. The centre of the flower is complicated. There are yellow nubs on the outside with purple flowers growing out of them, there are green nubs in the middle and there are longer green nubs in the middle. Not a toad in sight.

This is a photo of a plant. It was a perfect sphere at one point, first a sphere of tiny spikes, then all the spikes bloomed in purple. A round ball of tiny flowers. But then the flowers died and they started to fall off. So that the centre, which is a tiny ball that has little pot marks on it that once held the flowers. Some of the dead flowers are still stuck to the ball, so it looks like there is a moon in the centre, and stuck to the edges, like a monk with his hair, all around the edges are lines pointing out. There are white lines in the middle, and on the outside there are brown lines that are still in the shape of the spikes, so it looks like it is exploding. Maybe an exploding star, lost in the universe.

The yellow with red veined petals are creating a deep cave in the middle of the flower, the place where bees collect their pollen. Sticking out of the centre is the stamen of the flower. There is one green round button in the centre stamen, and around it are six white fuzzy things that could be bath sponges. This is really difficult to describe. It’s a plant, and it’s a photo. It’s purple. But beyond that, it’s confusing. It is the detail of a plant that is a long thin stalk and clustered around it are leaves, but the leaves are purple. There are also seeds, small seeds that are almost invisible that are also purple. There are two spider strands coming off the plant and lead off the edge of the screen. I think that is is.

Another one of those I don’t know how to describe. This is a plant. There are long red stipes of plant, that looks like ribbon. They are curled around each other, seemingly randomly, but it could look like a freeway interchange. This plant has those seeds that are a tiny nubbin of seed, and then there are a plethera of tiny white hairs that catch the wind and send them flying to spread their seed. But here it looks like they could be spaceships, getting off the motorway. With a black background.

This is a photo of a plant. With a black background so it looks like it is floating in space. There is a stem, and there are lots of little stems. At the end of some of these stems are what could be platforms, or windows from a spaceship. But they look like triangles that are not flowers. I don’t know what they are, or what they are fore. This is a detail photo of a stream. A shallow stream with clear water so you can see the bottom. The bottom is green and visible but out of focus because of the softly undulating water. There are splashes of bright white sunlight on the top edge of the water, in swirls and stains and drops. You can almost feel the trees surrounding this small stream, and the quiet, and the sound of birds in the trees. Almost.

I guess you would call this a flower. So a photo of a flower. There is a green stalk. On top of the stalk is something tall and thin. It is shaped like a rocket, without the fins. The top is green and layrered. Out of this tip there are tiny tiny tiny stalks with white tiny tiny leaves or stamens on the ends. They are all over the top. Below this the rocket has turned brown, but mostly because the stalks with leaves or stamens have faded and died and turned brown and they are covering the bottom of the rocket. On the side, hidden by just being there, is a long black fly with huge red eyes.

This is a photo of a purple round fruit, a plum or a damson. It is a close view and the background is black so it could look like a planet, but I can’t be a planet because the fruit is hanging from a stem and surrounded by green leaves. The fruit is round and has random lines on the outside, almost like there were canals on this planet, or maybe there were tiny tiny tiny tiny snales walking on the outside of this fruit. But it’s a pretty photo because the fruit is in half light, like it’s lit only by a sun thousands of kilometers away.

After a big rain in Los Angeles, the Arroyo Seco (dry river in Spanish) if full of muddy water. The photograph is taken with a long exposure so the water is pale brown and smooth but lumpy as the water bounces over rocks and concrete the is invisible under the water.. There is a green reedy bush in the bottom corner that is being pushed by the torrent. On the top edge there are two depressions that could be eyes, and below and between them is a protuberance that could be a nose.

A photo of a fly. Normal average fly sitting on a green leaf, looking at the camera, or one of the thousands of compound eyes is looking at the camera. I don’t know what the other one’s are looking at. The eyes are huge and a deep shiny brown. The body is black with gray hairs and a imperfect checkerboard black white pattern near the back. The wings are half open, with a hard leading edge and soft clear behind. There are hairs on the body and the six black legs have what look like thorns on them. It was nice of them not to fly off for me to take this photo.

This is a photo of a plant. It’s probably a thistle or something like that. It is a detail of the plant, that is just the part that looks like perfect rows of tiny caves. I don’t know how else to describe it. Maybe tiny apartments that were open to the air and had little balconies that came to a point. You could also think of it as layer upon layer of roof tiles, with space in between so that something could live in them. That might be better. But it is a light brown colour and rhythmic and symmetrical and hypnotic and pretty.

A photo of a plant. Again, how do I describe this? Ok, there is a tiny round white centre, there are pot marks on the centre because this is where the pollen / seeds where attached and have now flown away. But there are numerous, eleven or twelve dark brown things attached to it coming out in all directions from the bottom. They look like rope, with the texture of braiding all along the ‘legs’. At the end each one has long white feelers or hairs. This is against a black background. So we are looking down on some sort of plant that has send out it’s seed. But it could be floating in a sea on a different planet. Maybe.

A photo of a flower. A detail photo of a flower that is still in the pod state. But not how you think. It looks like one flower, with the centre sitting there waiting for the petals that have not grown yet. That does not make any sense. But really it is a collection of purple and yellow pods all mushed together to make up the flower. A few of the pods on the outside have tiny purple petals growing out of the open pods, but really it is still not open. The middle looks like a collection of tennis balls, with the seam showing where they will open. Of the pods in the middle, there is one that has opened. Is showing the opened purple petals, which shows how the other pods are closed and how they will open. Could be seeds on a foreign planet. That is bad writing, I’ll have to work on that.

This is the brown dead husk of a plant pod. It was once green and about the size of my big toe. It was once held together, in green and pleasant ways, but now that it is done it’s duty, (I’m assuming to spread it’s seed) then it has turned brown and the two halves of the pod are open. They are open in such a way that it looks like the jaws of a huge monster, and there is something hanging in the middle of the jaw, like some deep sea fish who uses a light to draw in their prey. The background is black so it could be in space.

This is a plant with a flower. Well, a sort of flower. An unopened flower. There is a round bulb, about the shape of a rugby ball, that is brown and covered in things that look like fake eyelashes. A whole bunch of symmectrical eyelashes attached to the outside of this round brown bulb. Then there is the beginning of a flower sticking out of the top. But the flower is bent over so it is pointing sideways. The petals of the flower are white and purple and long and thin. They have not opened, but are sticking out of the bulb and are all pointing in the same direction, in a clump. The way they are sitting, it looks like they could be a beak of a bird. It looks like it could be thrown together, rather than specifically made.

A photo of a plant. But it looks like the head of a man who is losing his hair. No, it does not look anything like that. The plant has a solid round centre, and off this centre are thirty or so white fronds that are thin and white and growing outwards. They are soft and floppy. In the middle, where they attach to the centre, they fade to green. Maybe one of those weird child’s play balls where there are tentacles coming out of the ball for some reason. Or a carnivorous plant.

A photo looking down on the sand on a beach. The water has just retreated so the sand is dark gray. In retreating the water has left grooves in the sand that look like canyons, or tree roots. Miniature grand canyons. There are seven of them next to each other. Each one is a different size and detail, but all are the same. Could be dead tree roots on a different planet. But is just a simple water and sand moment on a beach that will disappear soon from footsteps or the return of the tide.

This is a photo looking down on water. It’s a stream flowing through a forest but it doesn’t look like that at all. It’s a detail of the wavering surface of the water. The sun is shining down, reflecting off the water. Because the water has a thousand different angles, therefore the sun is reflecting off the water at a thousand different points. Also, because the is a long exposure the pinpricks of light reflecting off the water are tiny lines, or thousands of glow worms, or billions of specks of iron in space. The water is black so it looks like the light is floating in empty space. The contours and the flows of the river are visible through the bouncing light.

This is a photo of a pod of a flower, or a flower that is about to open. There is a black background and coming in from the left is a green stem covered in soft fuzz. The pod is shaped like Kermit the Frog. That is there is a top and a bottom and a line in between that looks like the line of a mouth. The pod is just opening so it looks like the pod is speaking to you out of the side of their mouth. The pod is light brown with stripes of fuzz running from the stem to the tip. It’s soft and pretty and beautiful and fragile and wonderful.
