ICE terrorizes people. My client is (or was) an asylum seeker from Mauritania. We were in the middle of his trial, which had been reset twice as we didn't get to finish it in January. Then he gets arrested on charges of operating a sweepstakes machine. Took 2 mos but all charges were dropped.

The Court asked some tough questions of the government at our hearing for #BadarKhanSuri. To recap: I filed the writ of habeas corpus challenging the legality of Dr. Suri's arrest at 5:59 PM on 3/18/2025. After we filed, we found out that he had touched down in Louisiana about an hour before.

Rubio's office has still not supplied his written determination explaining the decision to designate Badar Khan Suri a foreign policy threat, and therefore subject to deportation, his lawyer tells me. People really should stay on this aspect of the story. They're shredding due process everywhere.

The statute cited to deport #MahmoudKhalil, 8 USC 1251(a)(4)(C)(i), allows the SoS to deport any noncitizen whom he has REASONABLE GROUNDS to believe the noncitizen's "presence or activities...would have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the US." BFD, y'all.
