As Marines start listening to, and deferring to, Ripley we are seeing new Hollywood trope be born. Ripley holds onto her femininity (see scenes w Newt) but is displaying male-coded leadership and kick-assedness. Pam Grier laid the groundwork for this trope in the 70s, but Weaver launches it. #HATM

The Final Girl had thwarted 5 Death Traps, and laid in wait for the killer to show. #boardgames

Iris was able to successfully disarm the Guillotine, the Temple Drills, the Infestation Box, and the Swinging Blades to save four hapless victims. She even was able to disarm the Electric Cage which trapped her on the porch of the Smalley’s house.

This was a fun win… especially after a run of defeats. No victims lost and able to arm up and lie in wait for the arrival of the big bad.

Iris managed to kill off The Tormentor before her boyfriend caught up with her and she got distracted 😘

I love 8:30am on a weekday morning. To be clear, I hate mornings. I am not a morning person. Everything up to 8:30am is grumpy and miserable. But when the bell rings at 8:30am, and I get to spend 90m walking kids through the French & Indian War and watch them wrestle with history… yeah, I’m good.
