Ooh we like this! Henri Llewellyn Lawrence (1869/70-1920) worked from his home at 19 Melbourne Grove, East Dulwich. He was born in Wombridge, Shropshire, Doesn't seem to have been of French heritage. A widowed father of 3 during WW1, his 15 year old daughter Winifred died in 1920 too - Spanish flu?

Very much a village, and considered a rural retreat from London. First data I have for Dulwich, disaggregated from Camberwell as a whole, is 1811 when the population was 1,145. It didn't really increase until the 1860s. Thanks for asking! #LocalHistory
