Translating poetry of mine from English to Dutch. It's always a struggle when one language has multiple words for a thing where the other has only one. 'bait' and 'lure' both translate to (lok)aas in Dutch. So I ended up just scrapping a whole sentence 😅 #SFintranslation #SFF #poetry #writing

Cleaned the house today and moved my TBRs to a new spot, from which they can stare at me and judge.

About 30 scifi books, ordered roughly by colour. We see some famous English titles and a few in Dutch. Some of them I've started in but put on hold.

Starting to get hopeful here 👀

The red lines indicate that people that submitted to a certain market (like a scifi magazine) have gotten a negative response. The purple means a response is pending. Since submissions that came in after mine have gotten a negative response, I'm holding out hope that they liked my work and will contact me soon for an acceptance.

Hinse Mutter's "Self-checkout": near-future flash fiction, yet it makes you think, and of all the stories, I felt it had the greatest impact; a third generation immigrant just NEEDS to help a homeless person - even as the system has just reclassified her as an illegal alien. Brutal ending.

Wrote the first 10,000 words of my Fantasy novel, progressing nicely. Incredibly inspiring to dive into research of dozens of local Dutch myths and weaving them into the story.
