It is a mildly annoying burden. It’s not a devaluation of the job because if done poorly there are real consequences for the whole team. 100

On teams I’ve been on, rookies had to carry the equipment bag and fill water bottles. Bands have freshmen do snack runs or grunt work (set up/tear down). Done right, it really does foster a sense of belonging. 100
