Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 19/03/2026Hey folks - not being on social media has been lovely. Not deleting my account but don’t expect to be around much if at all. Will occasionally check DMs so feel free to hit me up as long as you don’t need a timely response. Stay gold. 4170

Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 22/02/2026I wish @criterion.bsky.social would put out a Guy Maddin box set. Or at least THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD. 020

Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 22/02/2026When I was in Nashville I saw Enuff Z’Nuff open for an all-star heavy metal cover band. The drummer of the cover band was the guy from Tesla 111
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 21/02/2026I’m a bit of a home video nerd but I will never understand people who get worked up over damage to a cardboard sleeve that only exists to make the disc cases easier to stack and pack for shipping. 020
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 20/02/2026Friday news drop: I have 2 more neck surgeries on Monday. Won’t be around for a bit. Might not come back to social media at all but I haven’t decided yet. 390

Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 18/02/2026Ten years ago my friend Nevada Hill died. At the time I wrote about how his death and Bowie’s are linked in my mind. Today was the first time I’ve read it since then and it all came flooding back. Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 17/02/2026I’ve watched too much mediocre Star Wars to find joy in it anymore. The original trilogy is so full of joy and fun it makes the current state of things sadder 020
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 17/02/2026Exactly. Kick it hundreds of years into their future. Make these characters legends. Let things be new. Stop answering questions that didn't need answering. 120
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 17/02/2026I saw the same trailer. Then again I got the fan-service vibe from the show after season one. Once it touched the main continuity the show was trapped in its web. Looks good though. 100
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 17/02/2026The problem for me was its, “Look at all our continuity and Easter eggs! This is what people want!” vibe but sadly they’re right. It’s what people want. Explanation over all. The gaps must be filled. No wonder just Wookiepedia. 100

Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 17/02/2026FYI, people on TikTok are dipping soft serve ice cream in melted butter to get a hard shell like with chocolate sauce, etc. So if you really want some milk fat have at it. 100
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 17/02/2026The Cale track is great but as you said the rest is less interesting. Would like a whole record with John Cale. 000
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 17/02/2026I lived in the Southern United States for a fair chunk of my life but can’t use y’all. It’s a handy fucking word but it feels unnatural; too much Northern New England in me so y’all doesn’t come out wicked good. 050
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 16/02/2026This place had 3 theaters, 2 massive event halls (or maybe the other way around?) and a radio station whose booth was over the concession stand. Real community center. Dallas/Fort Worth has a huge community to serve, too; I think there are roughly 250,000 Indians and people of Indian descent. 010
Erik Highter @highter.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Both are joy! I was lucky to see the Don remake opening weekend at an amazing Indian theater in Dallas. All movie theaters should sell samosas. 110
