A section of my pricey light bar went out after some water intrusion. I hadn’t changed the gaskets in years and thought it was my fault. Baja Designs support was eager to point out that I was covered under their lifetime warranty. I ship it, they fix. No cost. “Buy once, cry once” wins again.

On my last trip, this battery I’ve had for years started smoking when I used the AC outlet. It could have easily burned down the truck if I hadn’t caught it early. I’ve contacted the company. They’re taking it back and have committed to finding the cause. Be careful out there.

Freeze dried camping lasagna is my favorite. This weekend I learned it may be eaten with long lost take-out chopsticks found underneath a passenger seat. It’s easier if you remember utensils in your new camp kitchen setup. Still tastes great by a desert campfire.

Death Valley National Park, California. 2026 Watching the clouds coming over the mountains against the sunset was a great way to end another unforgettable day.

A wide, flat desert foreground leading up to a distant, layered mountain range. Above the mountains, a thick, low band of white clouds stretches across the horizon, partially obscuring the peaks. The sky above is filled with a textured layer of altocumulus clouds, illuminated by the sunset in vibrant shades of pink, coral, and soft lavender, which fade into a pale blue at the top. US 395 is a fantastic fall drive. The Walker Burger is one of my favorite stops for lunch. As real as it gets. Delicious, too. I love the local, hometown feel.

I built (hacked together with 2x4 lumber) a garage workbench re-using a desk top I bought in Atlanta, Spring of 1998. Level on the first try might be one of my greatest achievements. Like, this can’t be real.
