I’m having a hard time processing this. Why does a beautiful, benevolent human being like Dolly have to die at 80 while a certain other 80-year-old who is evil incarnate gets to carry on destroying our civilization. Something is seriously out of whack with The Universe atm.

Two gripes this morning. 1. Drenched in sweat just taking out the trash, and … 2. My iCloud+ subscription is being raised from 1500 to 1800 yen/mo. Wasn’t long ago that it went from 1300 to 1500. No reason, just “we’re raising the price, whatcha gonna do about it.” Too many subscriptions. 🤷‍♂️

Breaking the silence to mention that Ralph Towner, an acoustic guitarist who deserved much more recognition, has died. He and Gary Burton were doing some amazing jazz crossover stuff in the mid 70s when I was at Berklee. Ralph continued writing and recording until quite recently. RIP

Just got this from Microsoft: "Effective 14 February 2025, the price for Microsoft 365 Personal subscriptions will increase from JPY 14,900.00 per year to JPY 21,300.00 per year." That's a big increase. It went up a little last year too, but this is getting ridiculous.

Well that's the front end of the studio back together. Everything seems to be running OK so I can get back to work. Still can't believe that little silver box under the monitor is running the whole show, and running it better and faster than before. Very impressive.

Gotta learn how to post video/audio here. First thing I learn is that videos need to be less than 50 MB. In this short clip I try recording a cheapo Squier Bullet Strat that I did some major upgrades on (and tripled the price 😅). The guitar turned out OK and has become a regular player.

Chaos! The studio is a mess as I prep for the arrival of a new M4 Mac Mini that will take over from the 2019 iMac shown here. Here I'm testing a new 4K monitor that will be used with said M4 Mac (it's fine, but needs some tweaks). Setting up new computers is always a challenge, but kinda fun.
