i'm so glad it's my weekend. Cooking in the restaurant sucked this week. I got splashed by hot oil twice in the last 2 days. Nothing too serious but still... I just wanna have a chill day at work. 🥲

we've had a tree downed in our yard for a month making it impossible for me to mow the lawn but yesterday our firewood guy saw it and cut it up for us to use next year (since it's still green). I'm so glad I can finally clean up the yard omg.

NGC 6188 and NGC 6193 in Ara - From Rolf Wahl Olsen - flic.kr/p/cgYXQu

NGC 6188 is a large emission nebula located some 4000 light years distant in the Southern constellation Ara. This giant molecular cloud is being illuminated by the young star cluster NGC 6193 which in this image appears in the centre almost as if suspended in front of a blanket of nebulousity littered with thousands of other dimmer stars in a multitude of colours.

At the centre of this cluster lies an intensely bright pair of stars; the O-type giants HD 150135 and HD 150136. The latter is in fact itself an extremely close binary with a confirmed third component in an outer eccentric orbit of between 2950 and 5500 days. This triple star system is one of the most massive in our galaxy with the three components containing 64, 40 and 35 solar masses respectively. The cluster is very young, not older than 3 million years, and the intense radiation from the massive stars is slowly eroding the surrounding gas and dust away, sculpting it into the striking forms seen in this image. Within these clouds new stars are currently being born and in places some have already begun to light up the nebula from within.

Starless Eagle Nebula and The Pillars of Creation - From Rolf Wahl Olsen - flic.kr/p/2nxreCe

www.rolfolsenastrophotography.com/Astrophotography/Nebula...

This image shows the famous Pillars of Creation region of the bright Eagle Nebula (Messier 16) in Serpens.
Constructed from monochrome exposures in two very narrow wavelength bands of ionised Hydrogen and Oxygen, the data has been combined into a colour image to reveal this highly detailed and very dramatic scene. The bright colours are due to emission from the ionised gases, energised by light from nearby stars. The stars were removed during image processing to fully reveal the intricate structure of the nebula. Orange-red nebulosity corresponds to H-Alpha emission, and the blue areas are OIII.
The core area of the nebula was made famous in 1995 as the "Pillars of Creation" by images from the Hubble Space Telescope. The pillars are giant columns of gas and dust, approximately 9 light-years long, that are slowly being eroded away by intense radiation pressure from nearby young stars.
The nebula lies 6000 light-years distant in the Sagittarius arm of our Milky Way galaxy.

Image details:
Date: Sep-Nov 2021, June 2022

Pro tip: you don’t have to comm artists to boost and support them. People claim they can’t support artists and creators because they are financially strapped, but they can still boost posts, comment, like, and in general just be supportive! It’s completely free outside of an internet connection ;)
