HGUC MSN-06S-2 Sinanju Stein [Narrative ver.] One of my most favorite UC Mobile suit designs. I really like the utilitarian colors and the head reminds me of Megatron from Transformers. It also has one of the coolest weapon combos being a beam rifle with an underslung BAZOOKA. #Gundam #Gunpla

When I first saw this kit at my local hobby store I thought that it looked alot like a gundam-fied Megatron because of the head and colors. I personally liked this design compared to the Sinanju. I especially prefer the more utilitarian looks with its color scheme.

Unlike the Sinanju that this kit is based off of, The Stein only has 2 normal beam sabers instead of the beam tomahawks for its close combat weapons. Although the handles for the tomahawks are still in the kit as spares due to sharing some of the same runners, just no axe beam effects. The beam saber handles are stored in the back of the forearms underneath a removable panel.

The shield is a bit difficult to pose with. The attachment part to the arm is held only by pressure, and a very loose grip causing it to fall off alot. Besides the mounting issue, the shield can rotate at two point allowing it to spin around to prevent any clashes with the shoulder armor. It also has an attachment point near the tip for either a small grenade launcher or the collapsed version of the bazooka, although the shield with bazoka attached cannot be held up due to gravity.

One of the most over-the-top weapon combinations: the Beam rifle with underslung bazooka. Much like with the shield, the Bazooka (in its collapsed form) and the grenade launcher can be attached to the underside of the Beam rifle. With the rifle with bazooka attached will be to heavy for the Stein to hold up with one hand however it still looks badass holding it (with the help of a base stand to prop it up).

HGBD PEN-01M Momokapool A cute penguin-inspired customized (and the only modern kit as of time of posting) version of the Kapool. A charming little kit with a simple construction even for an HG kit. It also comes with an even little-er Pettitkapool as a sort of companion. #Gundam #Gunpla

The Momokapool is a tad basic for a kit compared to other kits in the line. Despite its simplicity, it has alot of charm going for it. It comes with a variety of expressions in the form of stickers. Its articulation is quite good especially in the arms allowing it to pull off some fun poses. The Petitkapool it comes with is also very simple, its parts are all on one runner, and does have very simple movement in its arms and can be stored in the Momokapool itself via the hatch that makes up its head. The only thing holding it back is a way to interchange the included facial expression stickers, which it has plenty of.

The Momokapool doesn’t come with alot of accessories besides the Petitkapool and the expression stickers, so it has to make up for it with its poseability which it an do very well with help from a base stand.

In terms of weapons, all of them are built in. Its only close range weapon it has is the Hand claw which allows it to slash enemies at a fair range thanks to its long arms. For long range it has 10 small beam guns, one in each of its fingers, as well as the Belly beam which is its most powerful weapon overall.

HGBF Gundam Amazing Red Warrior The name kinda explains itself. Its an amazing red gundam kit with a variety weapons and great articultion to put in any combat action pose both long and close range. #Gundam #Gunpla

The signature pose of the Amazing Red Warrior. Arms hold out wide with palms open upward giving it the “Come at me, Bro” or “look up and behold my majesty as I descend gloriously from the skies” kind of feel.

The Amazing Red Warrior comes with an arsenal of weapons to hold. The two shown are the Hyper Bazooka on the left and the Gattling gun on the right. Some of the other long range weapons it also has are the Handgun, the Long Rifle, and parts to transform the Gattling gun into a beam rifle which can also attach to the stock of the long rifle to make a powered up long beam rifle. It also has a small shield on its left arm which has a mini vulcan built-in.

It also has more built-in long range weapons. The chest and front-skirts can parts-form to an open state to expose four 3-tube missile launchers.

Its close range options are also varied. The handgun can be equipped with either a short or long physical blade to turn it into a Gunblade. Theres also an wrist-mounted beam sword emitter on its right arm which can hold either a short or long flat-beam effect part.

Happy New year’s day everyone! 🎉 New year means new Gunpla releases! While I am looking forward to what is gonna come out, The Psycho Gundam MK II for one, I also need to try and build more. At least to make more space for more kits in the backlog. Hahaha. #Gundam #Gunpla

While this is small compared to most modelers, a backlog can get out of control really easily. So time to check what kits Da Boss has accumulated last year and try to see what kit currently catches their eye.

Not expecting to see Gundam-Musume kits to be here. Probably had to do with watching build fighters during the holidays.

If I recall, this kit has been here for almost 5 years already. Da Boss really need to get this built. Also pretty sure their gate cleaning skils improved the last year too.

That should be it for now. Things are gonna be busy given its a new year, but I’m pretty sure that Da Boss has the time to do some of these. Though I did hear that theres a delivery coming in soon…

HGUC MS-06R-1A Zaku II High Mobility Test Type [Shin Matsunaga custom] A Zaku II variant from the MSV (Mobile Suit Variation) sub line of HGs and belonging to Zeon ace: Shin Matsunaga. A cool white Zaku variant with the usual weapons and a shield mount to hold those weapons. #Gundam #Gunpla

The Zaku II High mobility Test type is a variant of the Zaku II which has its legs modified for higher speeds and maneuverability. This particular one is panted in, Zeon Ace, Shin Matsunaga’s colors. While, lore wise, it is great for fighting in space, the leg thrusters hinders its leg articulation specifically in the knees as the back-leg thruster housing hits the thigh. Its upper-thigh leg rotation and hip articulation also limits the amount of ground poses it can do.

This Zaku II kit comes with the usual Zaku weapons loadout of Machine Gun, Zaku Bazooka, and Heat Hawk. It also has a pair of trigger finger hands (both left and right) along with the usual holding hands to dual wield any combination of the weapons. My favorite part of this kit is that it also comes with a shield mount that can be slid on and off the shoulder shield to hold all it’s weapons when not used, so it can hold all its weapons. The bazooka can be held under-arm and over the shoulder with the use of a hinge in the handle. It also has small tabs on the handle to lock into either left or right trigger-hand for better grip. It can also be held in both hands with the use of the left side handle to show aim stabilization.

The Machine gun has a tab on its handle to specifically be held in the right hand. It can also be positioned to be held in both hands to stabilize aim with the use of the left side handle. The kit also comes with a spare pan magazine that can be mounted on the side skirt, but cannot be swapped with the one used for the gun itself.

The Heat Hawk is the main close range weapon of the Zakus. The heat hawk can be held in both hands and be stored in the shield weapon mount or the side skirt via a tab. The one shown in this picture is actually from the SD Cross Silhouette Zaku II set and shows it in the activated state. The one that comes with the kit is molded in all black, but can still be used as is or to show it in its inactive state. Its just my preference to use the SD one to show it when active.

HGAGE WMS-GB5 G-Bouncer A mostly pure white mobile suit piloted by Woolf Enneacle, whose signature MS color is White. I really like the design especially the backpack and shield which houses a blade for CQC. #Gundam #Gunpla

I got this when I was somewhat obsessed with pure-white colored mobile suits. I also liked its back pack as it reminded me of the Tallgeese with it being two large binders with 3 thrusters: 1 on the inner side and 2 fold-out thrusters on the outter side. Besides the color and the cool high-mobility backpack it’s equipped with a basic loadout of gun, shield, and 3 swords. If you noticed it, the small crack on the left bicep was from years ago when I confused which way the piece goes, causing it fit too tight and break when I removed it.

Its only long-range option was the DDOS Rifle. A simplified version of the Gundam AGE’s rifle. It has a unique grip which has block on the end of the handle which In conjunction to the Bouncer’s square wrists gives it a snug, pincer-like hold on the arm, the only downside is that it can’t rotate if needed to without unplugging the entire hand. It can be stored on the back skirt via a peg.

The shield is not just a shield. It can be used as a close combat weapon thanks to it housing the Shiguru blade on the lower part of the shield. It can also be detached as a short sword too. Although the handle is round and a tad too small making it loose in the hand.

It also has a pair of beam sabers. Both are usually stored in the side skirts when not used and uses the flat beam saber effect parts often used in the HG AGE kits.

HGBD:R Core Gundam II [G-3 Color] w/ AGP-X1/NU Fake ν Gundam armor & weapons Three kits (1 Core gundam and 2 option part sets) built into The Fake ν Gundam. An evil twist on the ν Gundam design giving it a corrupted version with sharp edges, neutral colors, and an asymmetric V-fin. #Gundam #Gunpla

The Fake ν (Nu) Gundam is made using 3 different kits: The Core Gundam II [G-Color], The Fake Nu Unit, and The Fake Nu weapons set. Originally the Fake Nu parts was for the Alus Core Gundam, but I like the color matching with the G-3 better. The purples of the core gundam meshing with the armor’s dark navy blue and the white on both matching too, although it can be seen much besides the color of the shield in this photo.

The Fake Nu weapons set was just the fin funnels, Backpack with beam sword handle, and an attachment for the core gundam’s spray gun to make it into the Nu’s beam rifle. While theres 6 funnels, unlike the HGUC Nu gundam’s fin funnels, only 2 of them are working funnels. They can be deployed on 2 stands using 3mm pegs on the back. You can also put the funnels on the EG Nu gundam too if you don’t mind the sharpness of the design messing with the Nu’s silhouette.

The articulation in the legs can be a tad wonky and limited. The back skirt can limit outward-side leg movement due to the built-in side skirts. The “knees” which are actually the Core gundam’s ankles can give it a double knee bend in combination with the Core gundam’s actual knees, but is blocked by the back skirt and can clash with the front skirts as well due to the large knee armor. There is also a possibility that the ankle-to-armor connection can be flimsy so be careful when posing the legs. The ankles on the armor being just a single ball socket giving only a little ankle articulation.

It took me a long time to find all 3 kits especially the G-3 core, but it was worth it. When I saw it in the show I fell in love the design and concept. Having a small core unit equip with armor to mimic the design and characteristics of the actual mobile suit it is mimicking is something that I wished was shown more. There is also the Dubious Arche that was shown at the same time as the Fake Nu in the show, but never got a physical kit.

HGUC RGM-79FP GM Striker Designed to be a close combat mobile suit on par to Zeon’s close combat mobile suits. Its probably one of my top favorite GM designs with some of the coolest equipment for a GM. #Gundam #Gunpla

Probably top 3 favorite GM designs. The GM Striker is a relatively old kit from 2006. Despite its age, with its closed ball-in-socket hip joints and lack of ab crunch, it still can do some great poses. It also comes with alot of accessories including 3 Beam sabers, The twin Beam Spear handle, a shield, a gun, and 4 Hands (2 standard holding hands, a right trigger-finger hand, and a left open palm holding hand).

While its focus is around close combat, it comes equipped with a 100mm Machine gun with a dedicated trigger finger hand that holds firmly and an open holding hand with a hinge joint for wrist inflection.

Its not only a shield, it can also be used as a weapon too with its built in spikes that can be extended out. It also is mounted on one of my favorite shield mounts which uses a arm bracket with 2 bracket-shaped hooks (one on the side the other on the back of the arm) used in conjunction with a small button shaped piece that goes in the back of the shield allowing it to easily slide on and off the brackets while still giving it a firm attachment point.

Last but not least is the Twin Beam Spear. Basically its a staff with a mechanism on the end that holds 2 Beam Sabers, which the kit comes with 3 in total, to be used as a spear. Not only is it a spear, but it can also fold down on a tandem hinge to make the beam sabers stick sideways and be used as a scythe.

HGUC RGM-79G GM Command (Colony Type) An old HG kit from 2004. While it lacks most of the things a “modern” HG kit has, I still enjoyed building and posing this kit. #Gundam #Gunpla

The GM Command is a rather basic kit both in terms of equipment and articulation. For equipment it has the base loadout of a gun, shield, and 2 (technically 3) beam sabers. Other accessories are 2 (again technically 3) other hands: 1 right trigger-finger hand, 1 left open-palm hand, and 1 beam saber holding hand (I’ll get into more detail about that hand in another pic). It’s articulation is also basic with closed ball-joint hips, torso-pegs to shoulders, elbow and knees bending to only 90ish degrees on a single joint. Regardless of all that, I still like kit as I have a bit of a soft spot for the older kits.

The primary loadout th GM Command has is the Bullpup machine gun, standard GM shield, and 2 beam sabers mounted on the rear skirt. The gun has its own trigger finger hand which gives it an accurate hold, however the hold is loose and jiggles alot in hand. It is only able to stay in its hand by the trigger finger itself. The shield in the other hand (haha) is both mounted on the forearm arm via a brace with a ball-joint and has a handle for it to hold, well, in its hand. More on the beam sabers in the next pic.

As you can see, The GM Command here, being from 2004, has the old-school beam saber toothpick. On top of that it is also molded into the hand as one solid piece. If you want it to be color accurate, you need to not only paint the beamsaber you also need to mask the beam saber handle and paint the hand too. Lucky the back of the hand is a separate piece and is color accurate.

Despite there being beamsaber-toothpick-hand piece, you can actually attach a beam saber effect part on to the beamsaber handle as it already has a hole primarily used to attach it to the rack on the rear skirt armor. Just know that the grip in the hands is very loose and you need to supply your own beam saber effect parts.

HG:WfM Darilbalde One of my favorite WfM mobile suit designs from Jeturk. The Darilbalde has one of the coolest remote weapon system with its Iśvara and Ambikā units which allows its arms, sub-forearms, and shields to detach for independent attacks or defense. #Gundam #Gunpla

Its shields and forearms are designed to be removed and placed on display arms to recreate the Darilbalde’s remote weapon attacks. The forearms can also be replaced with the other set of forearms from the backpack to use as arm-mounted beam sabers or remote weapons as well.

Its main weapons are the Beam Anchor and Beam Kunai. Both can be separated and held in each hand as dual swords or be put together as a Beam Glave.

The sub-forearms from the backpack have the same peg connector as the normal forearms. This allows the sub-forearms to replace the main ones and be used as arm mounted beam sabers with the use of the very unique purple beam saber parts only seen in the Darilbalde kit.

One of the more odder weapons is the Shackle Claw. Basically its the feet turned into a pair of grapple claws guided by wires. Just about every limb in this machine can be a remote weapon and be used offensively.

Meet the Petit Block modified transformable mech: Meku Jetsune. Originally the Petit Block Robot Builder’s: Jet and based off of Miku Hatsune. Made 2 Years ago, I decided to fiddle around with it again then share it here after cleaning my desk and shelf up last week. #PetitBlock #MikuHatsune

It first started off as the Daiso Petit Block Robot Builders: Jet I saw the colors I thought “Why not make it look like Hatsune Miku” and so I did. The base remains mostly the same as the original, including the transformation, I just tweaked some aspects and swapped out some color pieces to make it the way it is now.

Took me a long time to try and recreate the Hair in petit block form while also factoring the transformation but it worked out well enough in the end. The head and twin tails transforms in to the rear and Twin vertical stabilizers of the jet. The legs turn into the wings and lower side fuselage. The arms lock into the legs becoming the upper fuselage. And the cockpit is the backpack.

The articulation was also tweaked a bit. I just extended the shoulders out a bit. The elbows were added via sandwiching the two balljoint pieces with a space between for bending. Allowing it better range of motion in the arms compared to its base. The legs remain mostly the same as base.

Also tried out a thing I learned about how to bend the plastic used in the beam sabers to make the leek. Just submerge the beam saber, or in this case a piece of a runner from one, in hot water for 30 seconds then immediately take the piece out and bend it into the desired shape.

A modified Petit block Phoenix and Dragon (technically a Wyvern now). The Phoenix being the most fragile thing as all the Yellow Feathers on the wing and tail are just hanging on by a single tiny peg. The Wyvern was inspired by Dread-King Rathalos from Monster Munter.

The Sazabi, Sinanju, and Perfect Zeong are from the High mobility frame line of shokugan toys. They’re like a sort of SD style of design minus the chibi-fied large heads and similar articulation to SD Cross silhouette. It even comes with a small piece of (barely tastes like) Ramune gum in each box.
The Nightingale is from the Gundam Artifact line. Basically its a mini Gunpla kit with SUPER rediculous amounts of mechanical detail. All casted in a Resin-esque color of Plastic. Good for making miniatures for table top. Also comes with a small piece of ramune (barely) flavored gum.
The Gouf I got was from a local Book Off. Dunno what line its from, but it has some good articulation for its size. No “ramune flavored” piece of gum included.
Thanks for reading this super long essay of an alt text. Just wanted to share some other options for Gunpla alternatives that are relatively cheap and saves on space in here.

This Frankentien’s monster of a masterpiece (in my humble opinion) is the Spare head Qan[T] from the HG Command Qan[T] put on to a body made entirely out of Petit block pieces (specifically 3ish Giant Isopod sets) and some SD:CS hands and weapons. Lovingly called the Spare-Head Qan[T] Block (great name, I know). It was to try and imitate some of the joints from HG kits to make a custom robot of sorts in petit block form. A ball-joint piece fitted in the Qan[T] head socket and after a week worth of spare time, made this awesome abomination. I’ll try to take some dedicated photos of this in some poses when I can.

HGBD:R Core Gundam MKII (Titans Color) Plenty of articulation thanks to its transformation/armor-up gimmick and being light due to being small. It’s always fun posing this little guy. #Gundam #Gunpla
