We're aware of an issue for bots sending bots. Bots all the way down I guess...

After some reproduction work, I'm fairly certain there is some common root between those signs I saw in philly as the Trans-Lite signs as MUNI had. All the same, i'm very happy there's a segmented typeface that I don't need to make myself. Fantastic work!

Long since facinated with segmented type, and since it was a photo adventure, i took photos. After this blog post was circulating, i re-opened my Inkscape project where I had sliced the glyphs apart to try and make my own font, a fool's errand with my skillset, but... it was still familiar.
A view of the segmented type on Philadelphia's "El", reading "MILLBOURNE".

You see, for a while I lived in Philadelphia, and while it's often maligned, the El in Philly is something residents do actually make use of. While my time in the city had me on the BSL far more often, after exploring the city one day, I ended up on the Market Frankford Line, or the "El".
A photo taken out the final car of a run on philadelphia's market frankford. The trip has passed 69th street, and has greenery visible on all sides. The car is empty.

It hungers

Exhaustion is real. Can I offer you a bird in these trying times?
A robin perched on a moss-laden branch letting out a sound. The light blue sky is visible in the background.

Breakfast.
Turkey bacon, egg, and Swiss on an everything bagel in foil and wax paper. The crust is golden and illuminated by lights off to the right.

saw a bird today. neat.
A robin, mid-flight frop the top-down. Grass is visible peeking up from the lower frame before fading into a no-parking "yellow-marked" curb, where the robin is largely over asphalt.

help, my sdr, she is very sick
A screenshot of SDR++ on Windows, showing a waterfall of signals with the radio tuned to approx. 98.7MHz (FM), the waterfall interrupted by incredibly brief but visible and significant distortions. They manifest as pops and glitches and indicate that maybe the hardware isn't working correctly, hence the post title of "my sdr, she is very sick"

i'd like to thank the magical girls and magical authors of the world for keeping me sane in this exceptionally trying times. i sure am trying. we all are. trying. these times are TRYING. ;-;

It's called fall because leaves fall.
A photograph of leaves covering a forest floor. Some, but not all of the leaves are crushed, dry and crisp in the fall air. All of them are a pale to deep brown and red. Most of them are approx. 3-4in in size and would make a crisp "crunch" sound if stepped on.

The photo shows about a 2ft wide and ~18in tall area for the full visible frame, with the edge of the frame partially blurry due to depth of field.

And done. Risers for my already riser'd SV08 feet. Now the chunky fan I posted can actually sit on the mainboard. Keeping it cool at 35-38C.
A photo of the underside of a SV08 3d printer, focused on the front right corner. The bottom electronics cover has been removed, a 120mm wide fan taped in place above the mainboard. The gaff tape is hastily applied but functional. The printer appears to have been put on risers with TPU feet and PETG "heels". The trans flag is visible in the background.

Also, shoutout to my Prusa MK3S with a Revo; still kicking enough to be printing parts for my Sovol SV08 due to the overheating issues. Taller feet were done, so now they get stilettos and/or platforms to make room for the new fan. Which is too big.
Two computer case fans, one significantly larger than the other. Left is 120mm diameter, approx. 20mm thick. Right is approx. 30mm diameter, 5mm thick. Both run on 24V and are on a desk with the slightest peek of a mouse visible to the top right of frame, and a mechanical keyboard to the top left to center.

In the background, partially occluded is the lid to a tupperware container, a resealable plastic baggie for cable ties, and a lunch tray for use in holding printer parts. The occluded items are assorted inside random cables underneath the desk used to power other items off-frame.

Finally mucking about with my SV08. Turns out, the stock feet don't give it enough cooling space for the H616 CPU to cool itself off, even with a fan. So I printed some TPU feet on my MK3S, and gained 10mm of space that makes all the difference. Now to use a better fan and hope it helps.
A close-up shot of the bottom corner of a Sovol SV08 3d printer. The replacement foot is purple TPU, four ridges acting as damping to prevent the printer from shaking too much. In the background, bokeh obscuring the image is the uncovered electronics from fan retrofitting to improve the system's stability thermally.

Accidentally turned my camera into monochrome, can't figure out how to turn it off. Anyways here's PA Noir. (Philadelphia, PA)
A photo of the Market Frankford Line in Philadelphia from overhead using the crossover for the opposite direction. This is in the track's aboveground section, with the center of frame heading towards one of the major suspension bridges in the city. The photo is occluded through a chain link fence and has 2 and 3 story buildings lining the center pathway.A monochrome photo of a motorcycle, a traffic cone sticking into its wheel. The motorcycle is parked on the sidewalk of a street, next to the stairs leading into the first story of a rowhouse. The alleyway to the backyard has a dropped steel protector over it, and the window of the house has an air conditioner at its top.A monochrome photo of the Market Frankford Line arriving at Church St. Station on the 15th of September, 2024. A single silhouette of a person is visible in the glow between the train and the crossover walkway. The bright mid-day sun has blown the image out and cast fantastic contrast throughout.

yeah I'm a fan of this camera. still learning the bells and whistles, but like... it can do a dang good job, huh Also just an excuse to get a macro extension tube set haha
A close up photo of the Cocoa Press' 1.6 nozzle taken on my Fuji X-T4 with a 18-50 lens and a 10mm teleexpander (iirc). The brushed steel and slight flaring of the nozzle are visible.

All our ducks... err... printed parts in a row. This should be every 3d printed part in the Cocoa Press kit. Yes, they're not _perfectly_ straight; I'm not either so it works out :p
A top-down photo of all of the 3d printed parts in a Cocoa Press chocolate 3d printer laid out on a butcher block table. The parts are a mix of the official Cocoa Press colors in dark red and brown.

This seems to have done the trick to copy the key profile. Now to design a test PCB for force actuation and stuff!
Photo of the test 3d printed key profiles on an incredibly dusty stenograph machine purchased on eBay, the broken screen's dimple still visible.

The steno reverse engineering continues; this time, it's the keycap profile of the broken steno machine I bought and liked on eBay.
a screenshot of PrusaSlicer showing the sub-isometric view of the two key test prints, one a "profile" with the curve that makes up the topmost row of the steno's keys. The other is with a curved profile end, slightly shorter, that makes up the bottom two rows of keys.

omg these strain gagues are so cute

I've moved on to the graflex portion for now, got some bits and bobs of the motion well... moving. "3D printers, course I know them; they're my cousin!"
A photo of a rectangle with a large hole in the middle, 3d printed, approximately the size of a Graflex 4x5 film holder. In blue, there are two sets of linear rails on "wings" above it, with their carriages mounted vertically to support a horizontal linear rail facing directly down for the sensor support (not added yet.)

There are two knurled screwdrivers in the background.

Well four prototypes later out of spite. A tape measure and some printed thickness gauges do more than it should.
Photo of a Crown Graphic 4x5 camera with a blue 3d printed camera board with the text "UWU" on it, upside-down. The lens is not mounted yet due to thickness errors. The board is slightly mis-sized.

Cute mini hotplate I got. Love this thing on aesthetics alone.
A small USBC PD powered hot plate being held in a hand with black painted nails. The wall behind it is blue, with the shades of a window visible. The main frame of the unit is white acetyl of some kind, with the actual heating elements being three stocked printed circuit boards.
