if you’ve decided not to mask to a con bc you “are the one taking on that risk” - have you tested before going, 3-5 days after you were last indoors without a mask, to ensure you’re not asymptomatically bringing something in? are you testing afterwards to make sure you don’t pass something along?

new patches i’ll have at bics tmrw @ industry city in brooklyn. also will have very limited stock of these two mask chain designs, with custom fitting available. hope to see you there 🫰

3 new patch designs. 2 are rectangular black canvas with white ink; one reads “ask for a mask” with a studded and safety pinned mask, surrounded by starburst designs; the other reads “pit no spit” with star-like beings holding hands in a circle around a mask. both include a subtext of “punks for ppe”

the third patch is black ink on tan canvas; a snugstone spell from witch hat atelier, split in two halves so they can be sewn onto things separately and joined at will. puts these on your battle jacket sleeves to give a really good hug

"also, reiterating here an accessibility note- this is a masks-required event, but organizers are allowing vendors to take off their masks inside the space for water and snacks
obv you and i know virusus don't care whether you're eating, they're still in the air and still transmissable. so i would rec treating this event with more caution than a strict masks-required event
i mentioned this to the organizers and got this detail on the promo-materials, but given the fact they were using language like "back during covid"... i think the accessibility requirements are coming from the venue, and they aren't super aware of covid as a current community issue
this is my first time working this market so i don't have a ton of negotiating sway, but wanted to make sure my ill/disabled/tapped into community health folks are getting accurate info about the level of risk present
i will be there with extra respirators as always, and if anyone can't attend due to this level of risk, feel free to shoot me a message and i can put aside any of my goods for mailing instead. will also endeavor to educate my fellow artists where i can
covid-responsive work is desegregating our spaces where they have been segregated on the basis of health status, by a false, economically-motivated "return to normal" that doesn't account for accurate science or reporting data on covid prevalence. any community of artists has a responsibility to care for its most vulnerable
