I honestly believe all LLM results should come with a disclaimer reminding people that the thing doesn’t (and absolutely cannot) know any facts or do any reasoning; it is simply designed to *sound* like it knows facts and frequently sweeps some up accidentally in the process.

My #cricket science posts never got much traction on the old platform, so let's see how they do here! I recently wrote about drift for spinners on my blog, and how it isn't all about the revs on the ball. Watch these two Rashid deliveries below and how they move in the air. 🧵1/4

In Plot the Ball 📊 this week, I wrote about the upcoming Australia-India series 🏏 — and, more generally, whether men's test cricket is approaching a talent cliff edge. You can read the piece in full here: www.plottheball.com/p/india-have...
A line chart showing the change in average age (in years) of the batting line-ups of the Australian and Indian men's test cricket teams over their last 200 matches (roughly since 2005). Australia's average age has been steadily rising over the last 50 tests to its current figure of 31.8, while India's — after a similar period of growth — has recently declined, and currently sits at 30.5 years.A line chart showing the change in average age (in years) of the bowling attacks of the Australian and Indian men's test cricket teams over their last 200 matches (roughly since 2005). Both teams' average age has been steadily rising over their last 50 tests, although Australia's attack (31.4 years) is still a year or so younger than India's (32.3).

Hi everyone! I'm a cosmologist who recently got his PhD working on the early universe. For my postdoc I've pivoted to simulations of the EFT of dark energy! I've also been an international team's cricket analyst. I love cooking and singing and Delhi. Nice to be here.

Genuinely useful debates on social media in which minds are changed are *extremely* rare and I think part of that is for the same reason televised debates are pretty useless. There's way too much pressure to double down and play for your own audience/followers, too much at stake if you "lose."
