As mayor of Windy City, I invite all veteran engineers to visit, in the hope that you might either join us at IHI, either as members or as contractors. If you need more reasons to visit than what I've just told you, then perhaps you can contribute what is missing? Consider that a challenge. ;)

You'll certainly get that and more at The Hewlett Hotel in Windy City on Titan. Oh, before I forget, a new night club is under construction, right across the road from the hotel!

So, after a hard day contracting to do some mining work, checking out what we have to offer at our local shopping centre, or just enjoying good food and good times at Larna's Diner, you need a comfortable and safe place to rest.

Calling all veteran (1000 hours +) Space Engineers players: Windy City out on (New) Titan now has a new Mining Ship Rental store! Additionally, we also have a new luxury Hotel! Our prices per night start at 30,000 SC, with our penthouse suite at 200,000 SC per night.

Thing is, I seemed to have the exact same issue when I was streaming on YT and trying to let my friends know. So, do any of you think this is a strong indication of shadowbanning or am I just being paranoid? I'm feeling pretty fucking isolated and ostracised right now.

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Multiple friends have previously confirmed that they don't see the posts until after the stream has ended. One friend said that he thought I was dead, because he hadn't seen anything from me - at all - in almost a year.

So, I did several experiments over on Meta/FB. I live stream Space Engineers (while playing on my dedi server) and MechWarrior 5 (looking to expand doing other games as well) on Twitch. Posted about my streams to my almost 600 FB friends. Literally 1 person saw it tonight, and nobody last night.

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I appreciate the effort, but literally no-one turned up for the second night in a row (for that game).

Hate to break it to you (and you likely know this), but even if you vote for a Democrat, the world still cannot trust America. At least, not for a LOOOOONG time.

Just did my first MechWarrior 5 live stream on Twitch. Two and a half hours. Absolutely no viewers. 🤣 #mechwarrior #battletech #gaming #piranhagames #MW5

The ONLY exception I *might* make is if you're a veteran with a son or daughter that you are teaching (and they live with you). I myself am doing this with my daughter (and am CLOSELY monitoring what she does - kinda like Splitsie does with Capac lol).

110

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

With that said, I hope this signals to veterans that, while it's a small server (10 slot), you would be potentially playing with folks who generally know what they're doing, including their own limitations. No noobs.

100

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

...that are very clearly laid out in the Steam group required to join AND the MOTD. It has happened every. single. time. Leaving me with no time to - y'know - actually play the game for myself, but rather constantly fixing things/deleting stupid builds/turning off scripts, etc.

100

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

No offense meant to newer players, but after running dedi servers on and off for over a decade, I just CANNOT deal with newbies breaking stuff with stupid builds, stupid/improper use of scripts and/or completely disrespecting/arguing about the rules...

100

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Suffice to say that, while it has been difficult to be metaphorically kicked in the head while down, the love and support from all of you has been overwhelming. Those of you who have reached out to just talk, please know that that is also very much appreciated. Once again... thank you.

100

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

There have been other judgemental remarks and "suggestions" as well, but even mentioning what I have is raising my anxiety levels.

100

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Sadly, not everyone seems to share the view that a man reaching out and asking for help when needed is a good thing. There are some who have looked down upon me and have expressed their disapproval of my "begging for money from strangers".

100

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

OK so, much has happened since the last update. I feel it is time to come clean about something. I have been skipping my own medication - at least up to this point. You amazing and kind folks have allowed me to obtain that as well as what I need for my daughter.

110

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

How is this till only "4 stars"?? Add to that, the cars that the author made have no ratings at all? Could someone please explain this to me??

Beautiful work. It still blows my mind though just how many GORGEOUS designs get completely overlooked, though. A friend of mine (miss her a lot) made some awesome ships and never got a look in. Then I saw this today: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/...

My neighbour has helped with some food, but I have to make that last, given that I don't know when the funds will hit my bank account. I'm sorry that my update could not have been more positive folks.

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

To make matters worse, I cannot even afford to Doordash right now, as my car's fuel tank is almost empty. I hope these funds come through soon, as I am beginning to feel light-headed as well as tired.

Donations have suddenly stalled. I've tried sharing outside of my circle of friends to various GFM share pages/groups, but to no avail as yet. My stomach is no longer just grumbling. Having pains there now as GFM transfers were only approved on the 25th of September, so nothing has come through yet.

100

HewlettCraphard @hewlettcraphard.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

GFM Update: Well, it appears that I am most definitely shadowbanned for some reason on Facebook. I am doing EVERYTHING that GFM has suggested, but the vast majority of my 600 FB friends aren't seeing my ANY of my posts. One guy thought I was dead as he hadn't seen anything from me in almost a year.

We still have a ways to go, but this is certainly going to go a long way toward us being able to continue living here and being able to afford *to* live, rather that just fighting to survive every day. Words cannot adequately express how grateful I am to you all.
