Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 02/10/2026My new graphics tool is called Imagery, great for editing graphics, creating animation or working on game tile maps. You can find out more on the website with the getting started guides: imagery.in-pixels.uk 1103
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 23/09/2026Imagery - a pixel art and animator program I am making - a new feature can create tile maps for games. I've focused on PICO-8 here which has limited memory for maps. With some advice from Minion, the program uses strings to store the data and combined with meta-tiles it can handle many more rooms. 050
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 17/09/2026Pea Green Boat and some superb bookmarks arrived today. Book is by Stewart Lee and illustrated by @davidwaywell.bsky.social "it seems this voyage has been very badly planned indeed." 0166
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 14/09/2026Spritesheets are cooler if you can print them out, right? Still finding ideas for features to add to piqiMATION before it's release. 270
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 14/09/2026Got a few things signed last night and a photo. He must have been knackered by the end of his show but he stayed around for everyone and was was really nice (in contrast to what you expect from the style of his stand up). 020
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 01/09/2026Gameboy DMG and GBC sprite support added to pixel lab. Includes an analyser that helps you to re-use character tiles in your object sprites, should you wish to. 053
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 30/08/2026Working on Gameboy support next (will also look at how Gameboy color works later). Pixel Lab hewco.itch.io/8bit-pixel-lab In other news, TRSE is now Pixel Lab aware with integration for editing projects from the IDE. 0113
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 29/08/2026Sprite editor for the C64 will be in the next version of 8bit Pixel Lab. Supports overlaying of sprites, in this example sprite 0 (multicolour) is layered under sprite 1 (hi-res) and I have preview on so I can see both merged together. 193
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 27/08/2026Latest Retro Gamer magazine has been delivered and the edge is a soggy mess. The paper envelope had dissolved part way along that edge exposing the content :( these paper envelopes are just not up to the task in wet weather. 230
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 27/08/2026Realised I should really add DPaint LBM file format support, here's one of my old pictures from the 1990's where I was wanting to make a game from a certain film - can you guess? Hint: It's not who framed roger rabbit! 130
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 21/08/2026My camera doesn't do the colour justice, but in this storm the sky is Vic 20 orange! 120
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 21/08/2026Mode 2. BTW, testing out the advanced importer with the different editors. 001
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 21/08/2026@chinnyvision.bsky.social will be relieved to hear my new graphics editor for 8-bit computers supports Maywood. Amstrad, C64, Vic 20 HFLI, Spectrum and Acorn Electron. 2102
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 20/08/2026I have Amstrad support already :) it's bit pattern is a little different though, but same idea. :) 000
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 20/08/2026Think I have mode 2 working now in the editor, including flashing support if that will be useful for anyone. 270
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 17/08/2026So this is where they got the sound effects for AT-AT's in Empire Strikes Back! 021
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 12/08/2026Didn't know about this one, in 1975 before home computers took hold in the UK where Usborne would make those brilliant adventure and game listing books. This one would have translated well to that format if they revisited it (I haven't seen anything like it). 3122
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 12/08/2026Remember, don't look directly at the sun later, bad things will happen. 341
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 21/06/2026Figured out how to get System Shock (GOG) working on Lutris finally! It needed wine instead of Proton. 210
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 30/05/2026OK, so I couldn't take a break. I an get the first two, but this one by the rope took me ages. 140
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 30/05/2026I can finally do the first screen (thanks to Mr R Hull) but the second screen is driving me nuts. Taking a break :-s. But new tip on second screen there is a collectable just above the ladder in the corner under the platform. You have to get that first before going to the right. 240
Andy Hewco @hewco.uk · 30/05/2026I did it! I finally did it. All thanks to Mr Rod. (stay on the rope once you get on it before jumping off) 251
