Current WIP! Pastel pencil.

A partially completed drawing of an Australian Raven on black paper. His back feathers are just an outline, but his head and beak are emerging from the page.

Hetty @hetty13.bsky.social · 04/05/2026

First in a series of 3 that will hopefully be a set of Holiday cards! Mouse ref photo kindly provided by Peter Skillen with permission.

Colored pencil drawing of a little field mouse perched on top of a red and white candy cane set inside a glass bottle. The mouse’s little pink tail is wrapped around the cane for balance.

Not leucistic - the females can be really pretty

Female cardinal sitting in a tree. Her beak is bright red in contrast to her tawny breast. Her little Mohawk and tail are a more muted burgundy color. She knows she’s gorgeous.

Another example of my kid’s Minecraft shader (MollyVX). This one made me laugh. It’s fine… #minecraft #minecraftshaders

A Minecraft room that has the “it’s fine” meme dog sitting next to a table with a cup of coffee on it. The room is burning around him.

My eldest has been working on a really cool Minecraft shader (for those of you who know about such things, or care, it’s called MollyVX ). Here’s John McClane in an air duct (click on it for full pic) 😬 #minecraft #diehard #shader #art #diehardisaxmasmovie

Minecraft John McClane with a big square head is climbing headfirst through a shiny metal air duct. He is holding a little Minecraft torch in his left hand.

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 10 - see Day 1 post for context. Still not an RV piece; it’s another random piece. Cute but Lame. Is this the Santa hat that Clark wears? (A stretch). At least it’s got color on both sides 😁 I hope that extra RV part shows up 🤞 #christmasvacation #advent

A plastic bright red Santa hat with white trim and a white pompom. It is covered in little white dots. It seems to have no connection to
the movie.

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 9 - see Day 1 post for context. I was wrong! Not another RV piece but a very random tiny snowman. Is there a snowman in this movie? At least it’s festive. Well, half festive (front half). I hope that extra RV part does show up 🥴 #christmasvacation #advent

A tiny plastic snowman who appears to be bundled up in a red and yellow striped winter hat, gloves and scarf.

If you turn the plastic snowman to the side you see that his colorful hat and scarf are only painted on the front. His entire back half is plain white (naked snowman!)

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 8 - see previous Day 1 post for context. Déjà vu! It’s…. the EXACT same piece as day 7 😆 - this is the other end of the RV but rather than make it unique, they hit ctrl-c ctrl-v. Now we just need the middle (tomorrow?). #christmasvacation #advent

Two of the exact same plastic pieces that look like the end of a run-down RV.

Flip one plastic RV end piece around to show how they will eventually fit together (once the middle is revealed).

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 7 - see Day 1 post for context. Fairly tame but clearly they mean to drag this out over a few days. It’s the back end of a beat up RV. I expect to see more RV parts in our future. That wheel has zero chance of hitting the ground 😏 #christmasvacation #advent

The rear of a plastic RV. The paint tries to make it look beat up. The wheel is sunken in so far to the wheel well that it has no hopes of ever touching the ground.

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 6 - see Day 1 post for context. Another person! - Ellen Griswald, but she looks much more pissed off than I recall from the movie. Perhaps it’s because some hair is flesh; a side effect of being cursed? Love her goth makeup 😆 #christmasvacation #advent

A plastic woman with heavy black cat eye makeup. Her hair under her ear is an unfortunate flesh color. She has angry eyebrows.

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 5 - see previous Day 1 post for context. Stop everything! It’s a character! But which one? Is it Clark on the sled? No. That’s just bad moulding. My kid figured it out as Clark in a green turban. Ignore the brown splotches I guess 😆 #Christmasvacation #Advent

Plastic figure of a white guy in a green hat? Wearing a purple cardigan over a grey shirt and blue pants. He has a brown splotch over his eye. Something appears to be connected to his lower half. A sled?

Not a sled, we see it as bad moulding as the figure is turned upside down.

A photo from the Christmas Vacation movie of Clark sitting in a green turban with pink gloves, reminiscing of days of yore.

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 4 - see previous Day 1 post for context. Still no actual movie characters and this literal plastic square stumped us for a moment, but then Mina remembered the little plastic pool model 😂 - but sadly no tiny diving board. #ChristmasVacation #Advent

A tiny plastic blue square surrounded by a white edge and outer green edge. Maybe a tiny square pool?

Knock off Christmas Vacation Advent Day 3 - see previous Day 1 post for context. No actual movie characters yet, but never fear! Aunt Bethany’s lime green cat kibble jello mold is even better as our next prize 😆 #ChristmasVacation #Christmas #Advent #HappyHolidays

A rather large plastic platter with a plastic lime green gloopy lime jello mold in the middle. No cat kibble is visible…

Knock off Advent Day 2 - see previous Day 1 post for context. Today is a random Rudolph wearing a Santa hat and scarf. It looks like it could be made into an ornament if they had bothered to actually make a hole through the loop, but that plastic is solid 🙃 #ChristmasVacation #Advent

A chunky cartoonish plastic Rudolph wearing a Santa hat and stripy scarf. A loop appears to be between his antlers, but on closer inspection the loop is filled solid with plastic. It’s cute but looks nothing like what’s on the box.

Kid 1 got a Christmas vacation advent calendar at a flea market. Day 1 We realize that this is clearly not a licensed product. The Jelly is not remotely like on the box 😆 - we are delighted to find out what future items will be. Kid 2 said cursed items are better. I’ll share the progress. #advent

What appears to be a licensed Jakks Christmas Vacation advent calendar (unopened box).

The advent calendar box is opened to reveal something that looks suspiciously clip arty inside compared to the outside of the box… the printed hose does not actually meet the printed RV.

A plastic jar of jelly (of the month club). It is bright purple with a singular squiggly design on the front that is supposed to be a label.

A picture on the front of the box jelly that looks like an actual snickers jelly jar. The detail is exquisite in comparison.

Colored pencil drawing of an older golden retriever, Pilsner. His reddish gold fur is slowly turning white around his eyes and muzzle, but he still looks very majestic.

Hello #portfolioday ☺️ I’m a scientist and artist working in colored pencil and pastel pencil. I love drawing birds and animals the most, and often do pet portrait commissions. Here are some of my recent favorite pieces and my website. heather-kiefer.pixpa.com

My daughter and I at our favorite place in the world. (I’m the short one). #treyarnonbay

Two women (one brunette and a short ginger) are standing on a deck with a clear railing, looking away, over a beautiful beach and sea - a perfect English coastline. The wind is slightly blowing their hair.

Little homage to my recent too short time in Sorrento 🍋- Eurasian Blue Tit ref pic from Pixabay (I saw many but didn’t have my good camera) and pair of lemons ref pic my own. #Luminance #Lightfast and #Polychromos on #Grafix drafting film. #art #birdart #birds #tits #lemons #drawing #coloredpencil

A colored pencil drawing of a brightly colored Eurasian Blue Tit perched on a lemon tree branch. He is flanked by two large ripe and bumpy bright yellow lemons amid a flurry of green lemon leaves. He has a yellow greenish back with bright blue wing and tail feathers, and a blue “cap” on his white head.

And it’s finished! My little cockatiel with thanks to Caro Andrea for the cockatiel reference photo (his name is Cello). The book lettering is done in gold so it reflects and shimmers with movement. #grafix #derwent #luminance #polychromos #birds #birdart #art #drawing #coloredpencil #cockatiel

Colored pencil drawing of a cream and yellow cockatiel with a bright orange spot on his cheek perched on a slightly open book, standing up. The maroon book has threads running through the cover with some areas looking old and patchy. Gold lettering on the spine read “The New Handbook of Attracting Bird” by Thomas P. McElroy Jr.

Colored pencil drawing of a striped, soft grey, cream and tawny brown kitty with piercing light blue eyes. She is sitting next to a Rubix cube (blue side front) and a dark blue leather book with gold leaf shining along its spine. It’s a French version of Jane Austen.
